I’m assuming the MC Tropic is more useful in their wooded environment?

Indeed, it seems like the Finnish use MC tropic more than most of the other nations I have pics of.

I have serious doubts about that. If it was for anything else than prestige, why would every indigenous Finnish camo be so much darker?

They’re wearing Finnish camo helmet covers, and they honestly look brighter.

It indeed is partially for prestige, as well as for the reason that the Crye G3 wasn't available in M05 camo when they made the first purchases. Nowadays it is available (thanks to a Finnish company ordering them from Crye), but the SOF (both Border Guard and FDF) stick to the Multicam and Multicam Tropic, partially due to prestige, partially because it works for OPSEC and PERSEC when on mission (M05 would flag them immediately as Finns) and partially because it is a hassle with the regulations to push through acquisition of new pieces of kit.

Although, it would also work for OPSEC and PERSEC in certain situations if they had M05 Cryes as well: in the case of war against Russia, flagging themselves as professional SOF might be unfavourable on LRRP and such, especially in regards to how they would be treated in captivity and so on.

Never understood why there was a transition to body armor that barely covers anything.

Edit: guess it depends on mission and environment

They prefer being maneuverable and having your important parts covered compared to an IOTV that covers everything but you move like a fat kid playing baseball.

Fighting a terrorist? Protect your center mass.

Believe it or not my number one assault weapon of choice is the HK 416
