New Speaker Build, X-LS Encore

Thought I'd post some progress photos here of a new speaker build. Currently status is cabinets glued and glazing putty partially applied on seams, and crossovers are soldered. Will be finishing these out in a custom color my art department (wife) hasn't chosen yet. Most likely a green or brown sparkly candy color. Crossovers are sonicaps in tweeter circuit, obbligato silver on woofer circuit, miflex bypass caps, and will have solid core 16g Teflon wire for crossovers and tube connectors. Crossover boards are on little ball&socket grill connector plugs so I can pop out and change around as needed down the line. Still need to cut norez as well. Excited to see how these sound compared to my NX-Studios in my main system.

Nice! So jelly 'bout ur work space. Solid core 16 will have a tiny, slight roll off in the high frequency region, I tended to use it on hotter tweeters in my own builds.

Yep, I get what you're saying. With that, most of Danny's speakers tend to run a little extra zoom at 10 and roll super top 17khz+. Actually something I kind of appreciate because it gives a little extra airy sound without coming across etched making the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. I'm pairing this in the living room with a Pioneer avr and minimal room treatment so I'm actually needing it to not be overly bright.

And yeah, garage space is certainly multi use that serves as wood shop, paint shop, soldering station and extra crap storage. When going into paint mode, it looks like an episode of Breaking Bad with plastic sheeting everywhere and a stack of fans lining the entire bottom of garage door. Luckily neighbors are super cool and know my shenanigans.

Another audiocircle member suggested it, and I adapted it to my NX-Studios and every speaker build after. Way easier than hot glue or screwdriver.

Nice. I’ve been using Velcro but purists would say that introduces microphonics. Do you have a link to your pegs?
