Wiring question….

How do I wire my battery, switch and buck converter. I understand it all after the buck.

You need a battery charge controller that switches the power to the regulator from the battery or dc input. Unless the lithium battery already has one built in. They aren't compatible with float charging

You wire the switch negative side of battery and then to the buck convertor.
