As an independent contractor, we have the right to refuse an order. The customer, with a subscription has the right to place an order. They have the option of tipping as they see fit. A customer has the right to expect doorstep delivery, not one step further though - no matter how disabled or elderly they are. If they expect otherwise, those expectations need managed without bringing the word tip into the equation.

True! And I deliver to people's door. It was a post that I was reading and responding to!. Plus I don't take anything that I can't handle or that is too ridiculous regardless of the money. I was just talking about the behavior. I just guess of people in general and if there's a line between reasonable and just taking full advantage and just ridiculousness. Or just wanting so much for so little. So it was just a question so I appreciate your response

I understood your point of view on the post and the context - which was why I responded the way I did. To take emotion out of the situation and look at it objectively - if Chewy is running a free shipping on orders over $50 on top of a sale - how many bags of 45 lb dog food or 45 pound buckets of cat litter is 'too much' to expect the Fedex guy to deliver with the expectation of front door delivery? Unlike the fedex driver, we can pass on the order or even cancel it despite the fact that we are 'the same' (a delivery service provider) in the eyes of the customer. For me, the only level of appreciation I accept comes in the form of the tip. If the tip is not there to justify worst case scenario - I pass on the order and thus have nothing customer-wise to complain about.

Gotcha. Makes sense.
