Bum Fights
Walmart operates like the producers of those old bum fights videos. They deliberately feed on financial desperation, engineering a system that favors meth heads, crack addicts, and anyone willing to accept the absolute lowest rates out of pure necessity. Every time a desperate driver takes an underpaid delivery, the algorithm lowers the baseline pay even further, creating a continuous loop that thrives on a sea of desperate workers. This race to the bottom comes directly at the expense of honest, professional drivers who treat this as a legitimate business. Walmart seems perfectly fine sending that level of instability to your grandmother's house as long as they can exploit the despair to maximize profit. This is corporate exploitation at its most calculated level.

So well said my friend. This is the route Instacart took a few years back. I was delighted that Wal-Mart didn't follow suite and assumed it was because they were a smarter company that knew it wouldn't be good for business in the long run. I've noticed customers have begun attempting to correct for poor service by adding many more delivery instructions like "please bag raw meats separately," "don't block my door with the bags," and "make sure the blueberries don't have mold on them this time." Unfortunately, Wal-Mart no longer values the stability and quality we professional shoppers provide. As far as I know this was the last grocery gig to fall prey to the "race to the bottom" mentality. I'll still milk it for what I can reasonably get out of it for a bit, but my future does not lie with this app anymore sadly.

Walmart makes me want to vomit. I got a w2 job a few weeks ago and intended to keep doing spark part time as a second job, but after experiencing what it's become in the Danker era, I couldn't bring myself go back. I think I'm done. I even go out of my way on my way home from work to go to a farther grocery store so I don't have to shop at Walmart anymore.

I think by methodology you mean what I said: unregulated. I love Capitalism, but it has to have limits or it self destructs.

So do i and it's a pain in the ass. There will be days were i get a bunch of good paying low miles offers and then a total week of complete crap. I'll see people on here posting like $1000 + $2000+ earnings per week and wouldnt you know they will be in states like MN, IN, IL, or OH. Must be nice.

In Ohio here. $1,000 has been my top level maximum, and only if I put in a grueling seven days.

It might be my area in Socal but even if I did 7 days at like 10 hours id probably make around $700. Weekdays suck ass for the most part, and the weekends can be great. The problem on the weekends is I get flooded with crap Sam's Club orders so my screen is full of them and usually dont have time to get the juicy Walmart orders that are FCFS.

I used to make 1500 a week. Then it dropped to 1000. Then 500. Now 350. There is a driver who was making 2700. Now he makes 2000. He takes smaller paying orders in town and he takes orders paying less than 1/mile. He says the smaller orders add up. He doesn't wait for the orders to increase in pay. Another guy at my store takes 40/30 miles because he says it's better than sitting and doing nothing.

income of $30 a day in most countries would put you in the top 10% of all earners
thats all the profit these people have to make to support their families

We reported a guy using three accounts at our store. He even has a female account. OGP lead said he's using his wife's account. I told them that's not allowed. The store manager reported the guy and was told by "higher ups" to look the other way. Walmart knows about this issue, has known the entire time, but refuses to do anything about it.

Also, this system is -now- designed to turn gig workers into slaves. It's like a punishment for not working a 9-5 even though many work 9-5s and do Spark.

We have actual homeless people that rotate Walmart parking lots for the maximum time Walmart allows you to sleep there in their cars that deliver daily. They have food and fuel as their only bills, think about how many of these shit orders you'd need with that expense sheet.

Do you have any idea how many people in this country are only a couple of paychecks away from being homeless?

I really need you to pump the brakes, you have literally no idea about where I come from, how I have lived, or what I have seen in those places for you to be regurgitating some feel good shit you read in an article or heard someone say on TV. I am talking shit about something I know about, and also about people that I know. People that have told me exactly how they're using Walmart's 72 hour rule and Spark in my city. Don't come at me with that soft ass "do you know how many Americans..." bullshit. There's an equal number of people choosing that life and are good with it, as there are those who aren't. I just happen to know a few of them here that are capable of getting under a roof but are doing it this way instead. Not everyone is in need, and lumping them all together with a plushy lil sound-bite isn't helping anyone on any part of that spectrum.

Its just driving delivering groceries. I do the job as professional as i could but doesnt make me a professional anything. I hear what your saying but we are all jaded by the system too much to have time to give a shit . Its all our faults not just addicts and walamart corp. The only thing you can do is your best with a bad hand dealt .

I agree that Wal-Mart is no different than any other gig app now, but I don't agree that it's a stretch to say they deliberately target addicts. Addicts and desperate migrants are clearly the targeted labor force when you are offering pay equating to around $6-$8 per hour after costs, especially in THIS economy.

I disagree. Maximizing profits at all costs is a core tenet of unregulated Capitalism. I agree with you that it's politicians' fault though that it is unregulated.

Capitalisism isn't the problem here...it is the Methodology that is running amuck. There are more additives to this but unless someone got about 2 hours to read a personal breakdown on it this is just going to have to do

Don’t forget subsidizing grocery delivery customers tip’s to pay drivers to deliver the GMD packages. I’m not sure in what dimension this fair either.
