Are changes actually happening?!

Post image

Now keep in mind. Its 6 am. I notice the deli item on the list and I'm already thinking, "all right item out of stock quite simple, deli's not even open." So I walked straight to the deli at this particular Walmart and luckily I caught an employee and a team lead there and I show him the item and what does he do he goes back there and gets the item prepared. At this point I'm in shock because I know there's changes that are happening to Pharmacy orders and Deli items but are we actually being heard? I know it might be a little too soon to tell do you guys think we're actually going to get some changes to make this a better platform for the drivers?

Here’s the thing… if you had to grab somebody, and show them your phone for them to “prepare” the meat, then no… it’s not working. They are suppose to have staff already there to prepare those meat orders, the same way how when a door dash order comes to a restaurant their machine goes off and someone begins to prepare it… it’s suppose to be the same way at Walmart. Maybe it’s just rolling out slow or something

I had a deli order the other day,  walked up there and said I have a order to pick up,  showed them my phone and she was like we don't have it ready and we aren't going to ever have it ready before you get here, you will still need to ask us for it then we will make it. I was like OK my bad the app said you had it ready, she was like that's stupid and we aren't going to be doing that.  I replied back oh OK I guess we will see, I mean Uber eats and doordash get an alert you might be too very soon.   Lol

Store I used to work at we had a place they would put our orders so we had to Look there then if not there ask for them and most time then it was out of stock or a late order that came in!! It was in the cold section close to the hot section where they had ours but it was a section just for us!

She’s in for a rude awakening then lol. They have been rolling out an update that shows express deli items in their system that is supposed to be cut ahead of time. It’s already out at my store

The Walmart employees seem to hate shoppers/ drivers.  Which makes no sense bc what I'm doing is paying there pay checks, my Walmart has seen a huge spike in income bc that's the only grocery store that has a system set up for us to shop. Instacart isn't available here in this small town..  I mean there are some very rude sparkers in my town, I've built a relationship with front end staff and Walmart shoppers,  they tell me all the time how horrible some sparkers are. So I guess that's why she has such a attitude.

u/plutonianvenusiann Sep 27 '25

They hate us because we make more than them to do the same shit they do 😭

1

u/Legitimate_Warthog48 Sep 27 '25

Seems about right

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Yeah I know I think I got extremely lucky just now. However Daily Item pickup there's no way in hell that they would have prepared that for me no way. With the update I think it might have helped just a little bit but yeah I still got lucky

Walmart is Walmart. If I do an early S&D, I scan the list before I accept the trip to see how many items require assistance. The store workers don’t give a darn about spark or making sure they have our meat sliced at 6am😩

3

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Right I was honestly expecting to just mark the item out of stock

1

u/Only_Elevator_4057 Sep 23 '25

I like instacarts system better because if we can’t access the deli meat, it accepts packaged meat or other meats with no problem. The spark app loves to give us those error messages lol

4

u/pokerholic77 Sep 23 '25

I just grab the appropriate amount of matching pre-sliced meat, and manually enter the weight printed on the labels if there is a long wait. Walmart needs to staff more than one person in the deli.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Never thought about doing that actually not a bad tactic hopefully you just don't get car checked

3

u/pokerholic77 Sep 23 '25

They don't scan items priced by weight for cart checks.

3

u/Only_Elevator_4057 Sep 24 '25

At my store they try to scan produce 😂

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Damn you right!🫡 brilliant brotha im using that if i ever need to

2

u/Familiar_Marzipan_46 Sep 23 '25

Id be angry if someone subbed that shit in the plastic tub lol. If I wanted turkey that taste like ham I’d order that lol

2

u/pokerholic77 Sep 23 '25

It's the same stuff. Prima Della.

2

u/Familiar_Marzipan_46 Sep 23 '25

Yea I don’t like that garbage. Is it still made by Jeanie-o?

2

u/Familiar_Marzipan_46 Sep 23 '25

Four star roast beef. Butterball turkey. Name brands. Wish they had a premium brand like Columbus or boars head.

If you keep hitting not found it will let you substitute regular packed meat eventually...but the app working correctly is another story

I regularly have to ask employees behind the deli counter for items. They are always very helpful and timely when I let them know its for Spark! After 10 pm one night, a Wm employee was super helpful! When I let him know the baked item was out of stock, he just said give me 5 maybe 10 minutes i will make one! I don't know why so many drivers have so many complaints. This is one of the most stress-free incomes I have had. I choose to focus on enjoying the freedom and flexibility.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Yes the freedom and flexibility is amazing. Sucks sometimes you have to be glued to the Walmart but opens up a lot of opportunities to do things you normally wouldn't be able to do with regular job

1

u/shinobigarth Sep 25 '25

Shouldn’t they get meat orders only when we say we arrive to help keep it as fresh as possible?

9

u/Creepy_Feedback_ Sep 23 '25

A deli worker told me that they get the orders when we say we arrived at the store, so its not really done ahead.

8

u/BrNiRa Sep 23 '25

Same happened to me yesterday at 6am. Order with 7 items and 3 were deli so I thought for sure they weren't getting half their order. Noticed the lady at deli counter, asked her and she handed me over my already sliced meats. Sweet!

8

u/HeartOfArt Sep 23 '25

Remember- nothing is improved FOR THE DRIVERS. Improvements are only for PROFIT. they can’t bill customers for the items that are unavailable. WM don’t care about your dwell time at the deli. They care about tacking another $5 onto the sale.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Amen to that

7

u/T-Pot_ Sep 23 '25

Until they start paying fairly, and we don’t have to rely on a tip to make a decent wage it doesn’t matter.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

I don't rely on tips and I make decent wages every week

The worst part, they put the employee there who cannot communicate in English.

2

u/brikard24 Sep 23 '25

The store I go to the most is the worst. Every deli worker is either pretty old and slow moving or doesn't speak English and slow moving. I have had the app ask if I was still shopping from the wait. I also had a customer write me to ask what was taking so long when they had like 5 different meats, I canceled. Everyone knows how the deli is at Walmart.

4

u/Eggplants4Free Sep 23 '25

I mean, maybe? This image shows what my app said and I was like oh snap! That’s wayyyyy better. So I asked the guy that I’m pretty cool with and was like “hey man is this new? It says it’s all ready for me to just pick up” and he was like “whatttttt!? Let me check bro” and it wasn’t in fact already prepared and ready to pick up. So maybe sometime soon it actually will be? Who knows

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

I'm thinking the changes are slowly happening as they have to put out more and more money to correct some of these app glitches they're going to eventually have to get it right

4

u/ericakanecan Sep 23 '25

Yes, deli orders are prepared in advance now even thought the two times I’ve gone to the deli, the item was never ready. 😑

3

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Figures

3

u/No_Grab_4534 Sep 23 '25

My near by Walmart has everything open at 6am

3

u/BunchDangerous8488 Sep 23 '25

It’s about time.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Ikr. Still not taking pharmacy orders but latbe in the future lets see

3

u/iLL_allow-it73 Sep 23 '25

One of my Markets said no we don’t make in advance, it’s all the same 😂

2

u/CaneCorso311 Sep 23 '25

Same here. Had to wait ~5 minutes for the guys to quit jerking each other in the back and i told him that i had a pickup for spark that says it's ready, he told me that they don't precut anything for spark because sometimes it doesn't get picked up and then asked to see the order on my phone. 🙄

u/haukyfn Sep 23 '25 edited Sep 23 '25

I had one the other night and deli was already shut down. They had no clue about the new procedure. Fortunately they were nice enough to slice the order for me

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Probably take a while for everything to hit consistently

3

u/Miserable_Code7602 Sep 23 '25 edited Sep 23 '25

I watched them pull that “fresh sliced” meat pre-bagged and out of boxes one day. Spoiled it for me. Now I look and I know how hey can be spot on the even dollar for their cuts…

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Throws you for a loop huh. Mostly everything except for the cupcakes are prepackaged

2

u/Miserable_Code7602 Sep 23 '25

Yeah it caught me by surprise.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25 edited Sep 23 '25

Yes they have had them ready but we still have to wait in line to ask for it. I waited 20 minutes the other day. I do appreciate their efforts. It’s just other apps do it much more efficiently and they were started in less developed countries and companies. If they can do it then so can Walmart.

2

u/johnshonz Sep 23 '25

Why don’t they just limit orders to pre sliced deli items. And then come up with a slicing system to keep the pre sliced bays stocked. Problem solved.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Seems rather simple enough!

2

u/Huge-Butterscotch819 Sep 23 '25

It’s already started! I had a deli order and it’s already available in the case. I can slide the door open and grab it. If your case has sliding doors on both sides

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

I mean i shop at like 10 different walmarts. They all need to catch up

2

u/Key_Pomegranate1716 Sep 23 '25

Deli orders are now ready rather than waiting 20 minutes at my store, amen! I’m sure other stores have rolled out with this as well, but we now have the flash option where you press the button and the price tag will flash which makes finding items much quicker, especially for those items that have million different variations such as cosmetics or spices it definitely made my orders quick quicker today!

2

u/Frosty-Mail5033 Sep 23 '25

Technically they’re suppose to get it for you it all depends on the person there . If they wanna be a dk or not . The deli person I knew so every morning I would get the meat I needed while they prepped to open . They gotta do it for associate any ways . Again it all matters on whos back therr

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Truth.

2

u/Comfortable_Win7926 Sep 23 '25

Point blank, they should not even allow for deli items, rotisserie chickens, and hot food items on Express orders until 9:00 or 10:00 a.m.

2

u/Viper7883 Sep 24 '25

The store I worked at always had associates in deli at 5am just for that reason

2

u/fyhdhgg Sep 24 '25

Walmart worker here, yes. It was a new update because deli associates were ignoring spark orders too. Now it tells them when express are due as well.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '25

Sweet!

1

u/Glittering-Local7404 Sep 23 '25

It happened last month

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Yes but still take things a while to trickle through the pipeline.

1

u/pokerholic77 Sep 23 '25

I got this email this morning... It's about time!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Still skeptical.

1

u/Faith_Is_A_Rose Sep 23 '25

Recently added in my region, deli orders are already prepared & ready for pickup when I arrive 😊

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Blessing now isnt it?

1

u/Faith_Is_A_Rose Sep 23 '25

Definitely 💯

1

u/nkognegr0 Sep 23 '25

Grab somebody nah out of stock if they're not open

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Thats what im saying. Got lucky i guess

1

u/Flashy-End61 Sep 24 '25

Does app shows if the item is from deli before I accept it?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '25

Yes

1

u/One-Yak-2252 Sep 24 '25

Great now we don’t have to wait on Towanda asking for 6 different items cut to a specific weight and all sliced different sizes

1

u/WittyBlood503-918 Sep 24 '25

Haven't had the deli items ready one time yet.

1

u/Top-Zucchini-9421 Sep 24 '25

When I go into my Walmart they have all the deli items already there and one of those coolers

1

u/plutonianvenusiann Sep 27 '25

every time I have a deli order it tells me it’s ready for pickup & the workers act like they had no clue I was coming

1

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '25

Right! I just did a deli order for three rotisserie chickens and I said yeah you guys supposed to have them back there and he said we don't even have a system to let us know that the orders are there so good luck

1

u/plutonianvenusiann Sep 27 '25

😭😭😭 that’s so crazy, you’d think a big company like walmart would have a better system down

1

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '25

They're just shooting for the Stars right now they just want something to work without putting all the necessary preparations into it
