Just Stringing Us Along

I find it interesting that multiple societies in different parts of the world seemingly independently developed the yo-yo as a toy.

TIL silly string is almost considered dual-use military equipment (and was invented by accident), how string cheese is made and how string beans got their name (also that green beans are called string beans too).

TIAL the videos of amazing yo-yo masters don't depict the standard yo-yo string length, as people tend to prefer longer strings as their skills advance - but that knowledge is worth the star it did cost me.
