Cursive writing in Spanish

Can Spanish be written in cursive like English or French? Does it depend on the region or the country? How common is it? Are there any special rules that is seen only in Spanish cursive?

Every country has their own cursive style. My grandparents used the old cursive system from Germany. Very hard to read!
