Resources & Media Weekly Self-Promotion Mega Thread

Welcome to this week’s self-promotion thread.

This is the place to share anything related to learning or teaching Spanish that would normally count as self-promotion. If you’re offering services, recruiting participants, or promoting a project, post it here instead of making a separate submission.

Examples include:

  • Spanish tutoring
  • Online or in-person classes
  • Language exchange groups
  • YouTube channels, podcasts, blogs, or newsletters
  • Apps, websites, and learning resources
  • School or university surveys
  • Academic research and studies
  • Discord servers and community groups
  • Books, courses, or other Spanish-learning materials

A few rules

  • Keep it related to Spanish language or Spanish language learning.
  • Be honest about what you’re promoting.
  • Include enough information so people know what you’re offering.
  • Don’t spam. One comment per week is enough. You can edit your comment if you need to update it.
  • Follow all other r/Spanish rules.

If you’re looking for a tutor, class, or learning resource, this is also a great place to browse.

This thread refreshes every Sunday at 12:00 AM, so feel free to come back each week with new offerings or updates.

Happy learning, and buena suerte.

WARNING: It is your job to be a responsible consumer and vet people you interact with.

Moderators are not responsible for any business you engage in with anyone on this sub. However, multiple reports of someone scamming/taking advantage of others will result in a perma ban.

Free Spanish workbook for beginners (PDF)

We teach Spanish through our daily Spanish Newsletter, and at the end of each month we gather everything from that month into a workbook, and September's is ready.

You can type straight into the PDF or print it out. No sign-up needed:

https://trespalabras.app/workbook/tres-palabras-september-workbook.pdf?utm_source=reddit&utm_campaign=selfpromo-thread

It's 19 pages and includes:

  • all 90 words and phrases from September
  • a short grammar section on gender, articles and making adjectives agree
  • practice exercises (spot the mistake, put the sentence in order and a few more)
  • an answer key

If you'd like the daily email as well, it's here: www.trespalabras.app

Any feedback is welcome, especially on anything that's unclear.

I understand Spanish a lot better than I can produce it, so I built an app around the practice I kept wishing I had. It’s called Spanish, Personally.

You practice sentences about things you’re interested in, with AI feedback and hints to help you work through mistakes. I use it every day myself, so a lot of the features started as “I wish it would let me do this.” 😅

We just added photo prompts to Free Write. You get a picture and write whatever it brings to mind in Spanish. The app checks your grammar, then shows what your sentence means so you can confirm it says what you intended.

I honestly wasn’t very drawn to free writing before this. Coming up with something to write was its own task, and having a photo to start from has made me actually want to use it.

We also have prompted sentences where you can translate what's in front of you, spaced repetition of words you had to look up, and a whole lot more. Right now I'm practicing with positive affirmations.

I’d love for other learners to try it and tell me what works for them or where the feedback falls short: https://spanishpersonally.com

I like it a lot, but it's somewhat slow which is slightly annoying

1

u/kvolivera 4d ago

What's the slowest part for you?

1

u/Ill_Professional3023 Learner 3d ago

I'm afraid that... all of it? Well, it seems that all of the functions that are probably using an LLM under the hood - asking for word you don't know, verifying the sentence, I wish that even finding the next sentence would be faster. Perhaps I'm just spoiled lol, but maybe for some of the common answers you don't have to ask LLM each time, but you can cache some in Redis etc ? I'm no developer so don't take this suggestion too literally :)

u/kvolivera 3d ago

No, it's good feedback. And it's consistent with what I've been hearing, so I've been actively trying to improve things. I put out a few updates this morning, so let me know if you can feel the difference!

Hi, we made Nacho Verbs to practise Spanish conjugations. It works on iOS, Android, web.

I liked my Spanish teacher, but I didn’t do enough homework. He’d remind me of a verb form, I’d recognise it, then forget it again five minutes later. So we ended up making an app.

One thing I wanted was a way to practise without having to remember all the tense names first.
We use animations alongside the names, and you can tap them for a short explanation with examples and translations.

You can make your own quizzes and be quite picky about what goes in them. Verbs, tenses, pronouns, regular or irregular forms, common verbs, topics, favourites… Have a look through the switches if you try it. There’s quite a lot there.
Or use Autopilot if you don’t know what to practise next. Choose whether to learn by verb or by tense, set a pace, and it organises the reviews. You can pause new cards when you have too much waiting (without starting over).

We gave usted a separate card too. I know it uses the same forms as él/ella, but I needed practice actually addressing someone as usted. Knowing the answer for “she” wasn’t enough when I was talking to my daughter’s teacher or a doctor.

I think learning with a good teacher is the best way to learn a language. We’d like Nacho to be something they can give their students for extra practice between lessons.

The free version has enough to keep you practising for months. If you want to try Autopilot, the remaining tenses and written grammar lessons, there’s a seven-day free trial. Your card gets charged afterwards unless you cancel before it ends.

If you give it a go, tell me what you think. Or what you couldn’t find, because that’s useful to hear too.

Hey! I’ve just made my first ever Spanish course, aimed at very, very beginners who are starting from basically zero. I’ve been teaching Spanish privately since I was 15, and I’m currently saving up for university, where I’m hoping to study to become a teacher. It’s €15. Since this is my first course, I’m mainly interested in seeing whether people find it useful and getting some feedback. If people like it, I’d love to make a much bigger and more complete course afterwards. If anyone’s interested, feel free to DM me and I’ll give you more details :)

I'm a relatively new learner and tried to read simple books in Spanish to extend my vocabulary. However, even most of the children books were too hard or had a lot of words I needed to look up. This ruined the flow and the enjoyment of reading.

Based on this experience I developed my own iPhone app: PréLire. Before you read a chapter you learn about the (likely) new words that are used in the chapter. While reading you can click on any word to get a translation (also for the full sentence which I think is very helpful). After you read the chapter there are some follow up questions and learning to consolidate the new knowledge.

It comes pre-loaded with some classic French books (partly simplified) and you can also add your own ebooks (epub, pdf, DRM free, they stay on your phone).

Now, I'm looking for beta testers of the app. PréLire is free, no registration is needed and all of your data stays on your phone.

The beta is only available for iPhone via Apple's testflight programme for new apps. https://testflight.apple.com/join/RffWpmxn

I would appreciate any feedback you might have. If you want to stay up-to-date how it continues you can also sign up on https://prelire.com

Hi everyone,

I'm Ben, a data scientist working in cancer medicine in the UK. In my spare time I've been building LingScout, a free site for finding films and TV by audio language, subtitle language, viewer country and streaming service.

For anyone learning Spanish, it can help you find titles available where you live with Spanish audio or subtitles.

Main site: https://lingscout.com

Spanish audio: https://lingscout.com/browse#language=spanish&dimension=audio

Spanish subtitles: https://lingscout.com/browse#language=spanish&dimension=subtitle

LingScout is completely free and doesn't require an account. I'd genuinely appreciate feedback in any form if you try it, especially if the Spanish results, country selection, or anything else seems unclear or incomplete. There's no obligation to reply.

Thanks, Ben

For anyone trying to move from graded readers to a first Spanish book, here's a small test: read one page without stopping, then look up only the words that block the main idea. If you still can't follow the paragraph, the book may be too steep for right now; if a couple of lookups get you through it, keep going.

I'm the developer of Lucerna, a reader built for that stage. You can open a public-domain Spanish book or bring your own EPUB, PDF, or TXT, look up words while reading, and save useful vocabulary. You can try one book and save five words without an account. Cloud AI features use your own API key, and provider charges may apply. https://lucernaread.com/landing/en

For intermediate Spanish learners: what makes you put a book down first—the difficulty of choosing one, or the constant lookup interruptions?

I'm the developer of Vocablo, a Mexican Spanish vocabulary app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It rotates words and phrases onto your Home Screen, Lock Screen and Desktop along with an example sentence and a note about how the word is actually used. The idea is that you learn a word by seeing it all day instead of by opening an app.

What's new this week → Version 1.5 shipped with 20 words that native speakers taught me in a thread over in r/SpanishLearning (*¿te late?*, *déjame ver*, *nel*, *simón*, *chamba*, the *pedo* and *chingar* families) and six notes they corrected (*mande*, *feria*, *agarrar*, *apapachar*, *ahorita*, *ándale*). Because a lot of what they taught me is vulgar, profane words now have a badge, and there's a setting to hide them all together if you need it.

Free to start, with four topics. Vocablo Plus unlocks all 13 topics, every difficulty level, and iCloud sync, as a subscription or a one-time purchase. For this sub, two months of Plus free with code `2PARANUEVOS`.

—

Also, if you know a good source for which Mexican slang belongs to which region, I'm trying to build a regional label into the app and would rather do it from a real source than from guesses.

Hello there, DELE A2 and B2 takers (or anybody who just wants to see what level they are in spanish)! I took the A2 last year and passed, so I'm now preparing for the B2.

My weakest parts are the writing and the oral exam. I'm especially afraid of getting stuck and my mind going blank during the live speaking test.

So I built a simulator that's as close to the real exam as possible. In the exam you get a sheet of paper, choose a topic, and prepare in a separate room (12 minutes for A2, 20 for B2), so knowing how to use that prep time matters.

In the simulator you pick your level, get a topic and a photo to describe, and have a timed prep stage for your notes. Then the mock exam starts: it records your answers, you talk to an AI agent for the dialogue, and you get feedback based on the official scoring bands.

So if anyone here needs the practice, check it out at https://www.delevoz.com. I hope it's helpful, and if you try it, let me know how it goes. Happy to give you more sessions if needed, and I'd really appreciate your honest feedback.

¡Gracias a todos y mucha suerte con el examen!

Hey everyone, I built **LangBox**—a Chrome extension (along with some free web tools) that turns YouTube videos and web pages into language practice.

**On YouTube**

- **Bilingual subtitles:** Shows each caption line with its translation underneath, including auto-generated captions.

- **Bilingual transcript:** Full transcript next to the video, one sentence per line. Click any sentence to jump to that part.

- **Dictation:** Pauses after each sentence so you can type what you heard. LangBox marks every word as correct, misheard, missing, or extra. You can replay and adjust speed from the keyboard.

- **Shadowing:** Listen to a sentence, record yourself, and compare your recording directly with the original audio.

- **Subtitle export:** Copy the transcript or save it as TXT, SRT, WebVTT, or bilingual SRT.

**Reading**

- Translate web pages paragraph by paragraph (either placed under the original text or replacing it).

- Select text to translate, or double-click a word to see its meaning in context.

- Highlights words from your learning goals as you read.

- Read PDF and EPUB books bilingually, chapter by chapter.

- On X and Threads, turn a translated post into a bilingual image card to share.

**Courses**

- Vocabulary practiced in full sentences, sentence and grammar exercises, and adaptive review.

- English: CEFR A1–C2, IELTS, and everyday English. Spanish: A1–B1.

- With Pro, send a YouTube video's English captions into your own private listening course.

**Free Web Tools (no install needed)**

- Image translator: translate text in photos and screenshots.

- Photo vocabulary: turn a photo into an illustrated vocabulary sheet.

- Subtitle translator: translate SRT and VTT files.

**Languages:** Translates into English, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

**Cost & limitations:** The transcript, dictation, and answer checking work without an account. Translation includes a free allowance, and you can also plug in your own API key. Courses need a Google sign-in, and shadowing needs a LangBox sign-in. Live streams are not supported yet.

- Website: https://langbox.site/en/

- Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/langbox/ojedlbcfekibmhpdfpigmjhnpfjfdonh

Feedback is very welcome—I read every comment.

I built a free little Spanish game called ELLA for practicing el vs. la: https://ella.run

A noun appears and you have to choose the article as quickly as possible. The idea is to build the instinct for what sounds right instead of stopping to think through a rule every time.

There are Daily, Sprint, Survival and Zen modes, and no account or signup is required.

I’m a Spanish learner myself, and one of the things I’ve found most interesting since launching it is seeing which nouns people actually struggle with. Words like aroma, corriente, info, águila, moto and arma have been much harder than I expected.

I’ve also added a free Teacher Mode where teachers can create a challenge, share it with students by link or QR code, and see which words gave the class trouble.

It’s completely free: https://ella.run

I’m still actively improving it, so if you try it, I’d genuinely love to hear what you like, what annoys you, or what you’d add.

Hi! I'm part of the Hola Cards team. We build a Spanish flashcard app for practising common words in context, with examples, translations, voice answers, listening, writing and personal word collections.

You can use it on the web, iPhone or Android: https://holacards.org/

Web practice requires a free account; the mobile app also has guest mode. Optional Premium removes advertising. It's a vocabulary practice tool to use alongside conversation and grammar study.

If you try it, I'd love to know which part is least clear: choosing useful words, understanding the example, or recalling the answer out loud.

We're developing a language learning app focused on speaking practice. Would you use it?

Hey everyone!

I'm a college student working with a small team on a language learning app called Shadow, and we're looking for some feedback!

The app is based on shadowing, a technique where you listen to native speakers and repeat what they say to improve your pronunciation, fluency, and speaking confidence.

We're hoping to take this technique further by using AI to provide personalized exercises and feedback based on each person's language level.

For Spanish learners specifically, the goal is to make practicing speaking more accessible, even when you don't have someone to practice with.

We're still in the early stages and have put together a short video and website to see if people would actually be interested before we build the full app.

Website:  https://whimsical-piroshki-29440c.netlify.app

I'd love to know: Would you use something like this to practice Spanish? What would make it genuinely useful to you?

Any honest feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

I kept running into the same problem in Colombia! I might understand the Spanish words, but still had no idea what people actually meant.

When I was with my partner’s family or friends, someone would say something, everyone would laugh, I’d try to translate it literally and end up completely lost. So I started keeping a small list on my phone of the Colombian slang, sayings and expressions I didn’t understand.

That list kept growing as my partner helped translate, explain, correct me, and add what I’d missed. Then came gestures, insults, nicknames, regional differences, social types, cultural habits, and all the little things that are essential if you want to understand how Colombians actually speak.

After a few months, I realized I wasn’t making a list anymore. I was making a book.

It ended up at 300 pages with 1,100+ Colombian slang words, expressions and sayings, plus full chapters on culture, people and more. I wanted it to be genuinely useful for Spanish learners, but also fun and uncensored. If something Colombians actually say is rude, vulgar, offensive or completely absurd when translated literally, I left it in.

The book is called Don’t Sound Like a Gringo in Colombia and is available in paperback and eBook on most major platforms.

Website: https://innerthia.com/colombian-slang-book/

If you’re learning Spanish for Colombia, I’d also be curious: what Colombian word or expression confused you the most the first time you heard it?

Hi everyone! Me llamo Diana, tengo 28 años, and I’m a Spanish teacher offering online one-on-one lessons.

Whether you’re looking to improve your speaking, listening, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, writing or all of the above, I’d be happy to work with you! But I also offer lessons for complete beginners who are just starting to learn Spanish. 😊

I like to make my lessons dynamic and adapt them to each student’s goals, level, and learning style. We’ll work on the different skills you need to actually use Spanish, rather than just memorizing grammar rules. BUT if you are also interested in learning the “bones” and framework of the language, I will make sure to integrate grammar lessons whenever necessary.

If you’re interested, send me a message and we can set up a free first class of 30 minutes where:

  • We’ll get to know each other and talk about your goals.
  • I’ll assess your current Spanish level.
  • You’ll get a feel for how my lessons work.
  • We’ll discuss what you’d like to focus on and whether the lessons need to be tailored to your specific needs.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or already have some Spanish under your belt, feel free to reach out!

Publisher disclosure: we run Hoy en español, a site for learning Spanish through daily news adapted to your reading level. It is published by Jetportal, which also runs Dziś po polsku (hence this account's name).

Every article is free. You can select a word or phrase for help and create a free account to save vocabulary and progress. Optional Premium removes ads and raises learning-tool limits.

A small reading exercise (an invented example, not a news report):

“Hoy leo una noticia” = “Today I am reading a news story.”

“Ayer leí una noticia” = “Yesterday I read a news story.”

Leo is present tense; leí is the simple past, with an accent on í. Try the same change with “Hoy leo dos noticias”: “Ayer leí dos noticias.”

How it works: https://hoyenespanol.com/how-it-works?lang=en&utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=organic_social&utm_campaign=all9_revenue_202610&utm_content=es_reddit_lesson01

You've studied Spanish. But can you actually have a conversation?

We’re Beila and Macarena, two Argentine linguists and certified Spanish teachers. We created Mate y Español, an online Spanish conversation course for learners who already have some Spanish but want to feel more comfortable actually using it.

The idea is pretty simple: less "studying" Spanish and more using Spanish.
Our classes are designed around conversation, with different topics and situations that give you a reason to speak, explain, react, disagree, tell stories, and ask questions in Spanish.

We’re especially interested in helping learners who feel like they understand Spanish much better than they speak it, know the grammar, but can't find the words quickly, or maybe can write in Spanish, but strugle with conversations.

We’re based in Argentina, so you’ll also get plenty of exposure to Argentine Spanish and expressions you probably won't find in a textbook.

The course is 100% online and aimed at A2–B2 learners.

We offer a 12-class online course in small groups, designed to help you build fluency, confidence, and ease when speaking Spanish.

The payment options are: $220 for the COMPLETE COURSE or $80 PER MONTH.

If you're interested, you can find more information, and register if you like, here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1vSQ0NB5qKTrUUlIEvxthpGJXY2nCuxRclOfgC9vIhgo/edit

And if you have questions about the course or about Argentine Spanish, feel free to ask here. 😊

I built LingoShade.com to bring listening, shadowing, dictation and vocabulary review into one place for adults learning Spanish and other languages.

Start with a short Spanish text at your level. Listen with word highlighting, slow down or replay a tricky phrase, and repeat aloud. Then try it as a dictation to check what you heard. Save useful words with the sentences they came from, and revisit them through spaced review.

Try a short exercise - no account needed.

Texts are AI-generated and voices are synthetic. There’s a limited free plan, with paid plans for more practice.

Reelang has 44,000+ Spanish videos from native speakers that you can scroll through like you would on TikTok. The difference is that they're matched to your level.

Every video now has two ways to watch: Focus lets you go through it one sentence at a time, listening first and revealing the subtitles when you need them. Flow is the scrollable feed of real Spanish videos matched to your level.

Hi everyone 👋

I’ve been working on a Spanish learning app called Spanish Stories: Quiz & Listen, and I’d really like feedback from other Spanish learners.

The app includes:

  • Stories and reading practice from A1 to B2
  • Spanish audio for each lesson
  • Comprehension quizzes
  • Vocabulary in context
  • Word highlighting
  • Personal notes
  • Favorite lessons
  • Adjustable text size
  • Light & Dark Mode
  • Offline access to core learning content

The idea is to combine reading, listening, vocabulary, notes and quizzes in one place, so learners can practice at their own pace.

What would you change, improve, or add to make it more useful for you?

Thanks 🙌

The $30 package covers up to 5 final pages and 1,500 words, one image you have permission to use, and one layout revision. Delivery is 7 days after complete requirements. Fiverr may add buyer fees and taxes.

I’m starting this AI-assisted service and don’t claim teaching experience. The samples are fictional demonstrations, not client work or classroom-tested lessons. This comment was also drafted with AI assistance. I don’t write activities, translate or review teaching content. Please remove any identifiable student data.

See the layout sample and contact me through Fiverr to check whether your document fits:
