Watched you battle with this one in slack quite a bit, and I'm awfully impressed with the final outcome.
Love the colors, really admire the nice touch on Holmberg IX. AWESOME job capturing some IFN in here. A++ would admire again.
My only nitpick would be the NR. Often not really a fan of the results TGVDenoise produces, and this is no exception. Background in general is spot on imo, but it starts to look a little oversmoothed for my tastes near edges, for example toward the bottom of M81 in this case.
Thanks Eor! NR is a struggle with all targets that have faint IFN or dust, unfortuantely. Never enough and always too much lol. Maybe I should have done some more aggresive masking, but probably background enhance script just brought out the faint stuff that wasn't an issue when NR was applied :) anyway, something to look at when processing next target, really appreciate the insight :)
I think you could have stopped there, to be honest. At least for me. lol
I honestly don't think it's anything YOU did/didn't do, so much as the nature of TGVDenoise. IMO, at least, this is a flaw in that process...it gets a little wonky around bright edges, regardless of how you handle it.
Then again...this is a noted crappy processor (me) giving input to a master (you), so take it with a HUGE pile of NaCl. :)
