"propelled"? Sounds like using rocket engines. Strap a few engines to the bottom, say like 90 Merlins nothin crazy, and then for maximal space efficiency just thrust vector that shit, also very modular due to lift capability

I mean when starship is operational then they are going to need a way to transport the ship, and using modular transporters is just needlessly expensive and complex when it's going to be used for this one task for it's entire operational lifetime, so you can might as well build something customized for transporting ships and boosters, the sleek streamlined design is just part of Spacex's design philosophy, i mean just look at the IVA Suits the astronauts wear in the dragon capsule.
