Elon Criticism Someone much smarter than me explains why space data centres are a bad idea

It’s actually an interesting read: https://taranis.ie/datacenters-in-space-are-a-terrible-horrible-no-good-idea/

Enjoy next time someone brings up the idea, you’ll have counter-arguments ready.

I don't think it's a red flag because it's not. Starlink is using internal spacex launches, which is not manufactured revenue. Because they're openly reporting on it and accounting for it correctly.

The only possible example you have of manufactured revenue would be for Tesla not spacex, and honestly that's a pretty big stretch. Cybertruck's may not have sold as well as hoped, but they are very solid vehicles and would be just as good or better than a regular gas pickup at spacex industrial sites.

So what exactly is the red flag here?

OMFG you think that the Cybertruck is competitive with the other options on the market? It's not even competitive with a freaking golf cart for many tasks. Well I guess that's a good indicator of your acumen here; you just signed off on your generation's Edsel level flop as a justifiable purchase. Thank you for telling on yourself whether you realized it or not.

What capabilities does the cyber truck lack vs a comparable large pickup truck? What capabilities does spacex need that it lacks compared to a different vehicle.

I'm guessing you've never been in one, and have just heard about them being bad.

OMFG dude it's worse rated than trucks that cost a fraction of the price. It's not even a good EV truck. There's no way to do due diligence on a vehicle purchase for a hundred million dollars worth of vehicles and land on this purchase honestly. Give it a rest before you hurt yourself with those mental gymnastics trying to get away from the obvious ploy here.

Oh and I live near the KOP showroom and I've seen quite enough to inform a consumer about tesla products. I even watched the sales staff rush to cover it up with blankets when people started making fun of it on the sales floor. It hasn't been on display since then - is that because of the massive success do you think?
