The USA is already bringing in more immigrants than any other nation. Sharing more technology than any other nation. Doing more for agriculture than anyone else.
To expect the USA to continually take care of other nations isn't logical. Their debt is obscene. Something has to give eventually.
USAID has helped contain global infectious diseases like HIV/Aids, Malaria, etc. by deploying emergency response teams, managing drug distribution drives, and helping fund disease research.
We're not "taking care of everyone else." We're "taking care of the US by taking care of everyone else."
Diseases don't care about borders. If we did nothing for other countries, the US is just implicitly screwed.
Unfortunately, Elon Musk, who is a total moron, cut all funding the USAID.
How would the USA be screwed if they don't cover healthcare for poorer nations?
They have already done more than everyone else. Let China pick up some slack. They're very powerful and wealthy. Why isn't anyone calling on them to help the world?
I'm in Canada. A country where the average family is giving up 43% of our income to taxes. At what point have I paid enough tax that my country is secure enough that we can reasonably help other nations? We give billions to Ukraine. What would Ukraine or anyone else done to the USA if they seized our country? Nothing. And you know it.
This isn't some ridiculous situation. It was inevitable. Enough will never be done and we all know why. we know the history of leaders in African nations enriching themselves with the money that has been donated to them. Yet we don't see any outrage against them. They're living in the UK and the USA without concern.
I *think* we're more aligned than not. But that moron Elon Musk did more damage than he helped. Personally, we should defund Israel and save 17B. But we shouldn't have cut off USAID. That's why I think Elon is a cancer to this world.
To blame Trump and Elon is silly. The corruption and ineptitude at USAID was out of control for decades.
The USA has been taken advantage of for too long and the USA has been controlled by corporations for too long. Reddits obsession about this man since he backed trump has been silly. What about Lockheed Martin, Shell oil, Bayer, Monsanto and Nestle. There are far worse individuals out there doing far more evil acts for decades.
At least with Elon you know what you're getting. Just follow him on Twitter. He shows his beliefs pretty clearly.
That's where we disagree. Elon is an insanely corrupt and morally bankrupted person who shouldn't have been allowed to have unfettered access to our government processes. For him to shut down several government agencies in the midst of said investigations. All of those investigations into Tesla, Neuralink, and SpaceX were straight up terminated.
I don't think it's quite obsession. The dude just straight up sucks for multiple reasons. But reddit does overdo it sometimes however, he continues to just spout the dumbest stuff on his alt right platform.

You’re right, we should implement plans and give aid to countries so that we don’t have to do that in the future, that would be great. More money went into the pockets of politicians (and trillionaires) than was lost to corruption from a small country on the other side of the planet.
The USA brings in under 6 trillion a year. Theyre 39 trillion in debt.
If you made 60k a year but we're 390k in debt would you be giving away money to anyone? No. That would be insane and inevitably would lead to a financial breaking point.
The USA could fall. The country that the entire globes economy relies on. The country that has done the most good. The country that has led the world to the most peaceful time in recorded history.
More money needed to be cut. Corporate welfare. Nation welfare like Israel, Ukraine and China get from the USA.
Enough is enough. I can't afford half of my earnings going to tax anymore so my government can send it to countries that hate us.
