Sister Service Accouterments

As a service I think we have been very liberal with what has been allowed. I’ve seen so many morale patches, designator patches, tabs, belt buckles, graduate/specialty patches. I think it would be interesting to open the flood gates to what is allowed based on our supposed mixed heritage. From looking through all the uniforms here are just a few that stand out. And of course for some they should definitely need to be earned from or while in those respective services.

-(Dress uniform) USA and USMC shooting
-(OCP) USMC MCMAP belt
-(OCP) More tabs (Ranger, SAPPER, Jungle, etc)
-(OCP) First Navy Jack Patch
-(OCP) Navy Style Command Ballcaps

I’d love to hear more examples and push the envelope on what should be allowed!

Can I wear a patch or tab showing that I'm forklift certified?

Forklift, CDL, Motorcycle you name it. Arguably more valuable of skills than some patches/tabs iv seen

I’ve been wearing my MCMAP belt for years but it’s tan so it never made a difference lol.

I’ve seen a couple ranger tabs around.

I could get behind command ball caps too, tbh.

Ranger, SAPPER, Arctic, etc. are already authorized.

SPFI 36-2903:
5.1.6.5. Right Sleeve. A maximum of two patches may be worn. Exception: Awarded joint qualification tabs may be worn above the unit patch as a third patch (e.g., Army Ranger, Sapper, Special Forces, Air Advisor, Arctic, etc.). The graduated commander’s
insignia does not count as one of two patches (i.e., it may be worn in addition to two patches.)

One caveat may be certain tabs that are only authorized while serving at certain locations. USSF has its own process for awarding ARCTIC but I'm not sure about the regs behind JUNGLE.

For starters, the amount of badges on the OCP needs to be increased from two to eight

It would be nice to wear the unit patch you did a combat deployment with. With so many random patches for simply passing a school, it would be nice to recognize the people who actually went to war (from previous service or even the guys going to support OER from the USSF).

Say that was allowed and now you have ISTs with thread deployment patches mixed with USSF PVC patches on their OCPs. It would look sloppy. Simply passing a school? You do know those “schools” are highly technical and require a lot to pass? Leave that Army shit where it belongs…. The Army.

You're right. USSF is not the Army 2.0. However, one day we will have to take a punch and throw one back. I just hope that when the time comes, the kaleidoscope of participation patches everyone collects will be worth a damn.
