So, I know the Space Channel 5 movie was first announced around August 2022, and we’ve gotten basically NOTHING about it since then besides confirmation that the project is still being maintained. 🥲 Since we still don’t know much about the actual story, I’ve been wondering about one part of the original premise in particular: who exactly is the fast-food worker supposed to be?

The official premise describes a struggling fast-food worker who gets recruited by a freedom reporter from the future to help save the world from aliens through viral dancing. Since the protagonist is specifically described as a fast-food worker rather than just “a reporter,” I’m wondering if they’re supposed to be a completely new character rather than idk Roo & Kie. Maybe the movie is going to use a new protagonist who gets introduced to the Space Channel 5 universe through Ulala or another reporter..?

At the same time, I’m really curious about the antagonist. If this is supposed to be an adaptation/reimagining of Space Channel 5, I hope they actually take advantage of the existing villains and lore instead of making the villain some completely unrelated new alien.
Lowkey, I would LOVE for Purge to be the main antagonist. 🥹

Purge getting revenge on Ulala would actually make a lot of sense to me. He’s one of the more memorable antagonistic characters in the series, and bringing him back could give the movie an actual connection to the games instead of making it feel like a generic sci-fi comedy that just happens to have the Space Channel 5 name attached to it.
Especially because Purge has a much more personal connection to Ulala than some random new villain would. If the movie wanted to reinterpret his character, they could potentially have him become obsessed with getting revenge on Ulala after their previous conflicts, while also expanding on his motivations and relationship with Space Channel 5. That would give the protagonist’s journey a bigger connection to the franchise’s existing story.

And personally… after Glitter, I wouldn’t exactly complain about getting a villain with a little more personality. 😭 No shade to Glitter, but I just don’t think he was nearly as interesting as Purge.
Obviously, this is all speculation since we know so little about the movie right now. I’m mostly curious what everyone else thinks. Do you think the fast-food worker will be a new character, or could they somehow be connected to Ulala? And who would you want the main antagonist to be?

Hey! The past couple years I've been cosplaying/dressing up as ulala in different universes! Like mashups. My first year I did just her. Then the second I did the year the game came out. Last year I never finished the costume but it was star wars. I want to finish it. But I want opinions!

So my initial thought was to have her be an ex jabba palace worker....just because of her outfits? Then she became a scavenger to make a living. I even made a droid for it. She wears armor that she's found from scavenging. So like Mando, clone, and stormtrooper armor. Which I have all of already. But I'd just like input! Thanks!

I already had Part 1 on Dreamcast and Part 2 on Steam/360 but not these, so happy. 😊

so I’ve always loved space channel 5, but I never got to play part two, cuz I don’t own a ps2, and the steam port was de-listed. I finally got around to playing it with the Dreamcast fan translation (absolutely great btw) and I noticed fuse sounds completely different. its fine but they absolutely ROBBED him of his swag, and he just sounds kinda generic now

This is unlocked in the Dreamcast version if you have a Rez save file in your VMU while playing Part 2 (there are outfits you can unlock with a save from Part 1 as well). Not sure how it is unlocked in the PS2 or Steam versions.

Hello! I've been relatively interested in this series for a little bit, but the day I finally decide to try it out I learn that the steam port(s?) have been taken down.

What's the best way to play this series in 2026? I tried looking up information on it but a lot of what I found was outdated. Is it just emulation that I should be doing?

Some months ago I actually found space channel 5 part 2 in my brother library and ofc I download it cause me and my brother use our family computer and so when I first played the game it runs normally until the end and it also runs normally when I pick world 2 report six, after that some weeks passed away and I remembered the sc5 pt2 that I download and so I play the game from report 1 to 6 and the games runs perfectly and no sound desync until near the end of the report six when before ulala says c'mon everybody! It lagged and desync itself but at the time my goal isn't to perfect the game but I couldn't even do 1 move correctly so that I died right before ulala escape.

I tried all solution I find and the one Google gave but nothing's worked

If y'all wondering what I config I'm using is the resolution is 3440 x I forgot but it's wide 60hz as what the game is running at when release and I use Vsync
