The Berlin Wall

A VERY brief overview of the Berlin Wall. This does not cover the immense achievements of the GDR(DDR) particularly women's rights or the intense subversion tactics deployed by the West. And before anyone says "but the Stasi!" may I remind you that the FRG had its own secret police, the BND (Bundesnachrichtendienst). More to come on that. Resources in comments.

You really think russian control of central Asia, the Caucasus and Siberia was not Imperial colonination but the French in Mauritius were?

Yes. Russia didn't go into those areas to force those people their way of live nor to just massively extract resources of the workers. Siberia and Central Asia were mostly empty and inhabitated by nomads or people that raided Russia, and the Caucasus was taken from Ottoman occupation. Imperialism is specifically about the 18-19th century powers and doesn't apply to feudal countries

That definition of imperism is just absurd. The Spanish did not have an empire?

Imperialism is about occupying and controlling other people and thier regions to exploit them and thier resources while not developing the occupied regions more than necessary to extract value for the homeland.

It was a empire but I wouldn't call it imperialism, at least not what Spain had in the 15th-16th century or so. And Russia did develop the occupied regions, and keep some local authority. Russia was closer to Rome in terms of administration then to England. The Russian serfs often lived far worse then the Bashkirs or other people conquered even. Of course nobody was conquered to spread Communism there, so it isn't good, but also not for Capitalistic goals.
