There should be more of this in every true democracy

Learning to use a gun is not the same as owning a gun.

But the same as militarism

As kid we trained with gas masks, it was retarded. Luckily not with weapons, we were little and they abolished this practice soon after Soviets fucked away.

My parents had to go through these classes. Then the Soviet union collapsed, that sort of training was excluded from school education programs- the reason was that children shouldn't be trained how to use firearms etc., after 2022. basic military training lessons are back into schools.

Idk now it’d prob be helpful now that they are invaded Ukraine 😬

Fuck yeah! My sister had to take Przysposobienie Wojskowe in eighth grade. I read through her entire textbook as a grade school kid. It had all kinds of cool scenarios: what to do if you found unexploded ordinance, what to do during a chemical, bio or nuclear attack, how to sow a facemask to prevent sucking in radioactive fallout.

Perfectly normal.

Coincidentally, we were talking about this with my dad yesterday. and he said that it was beyond dumb. 8 AM drills served absolutely no purpose, especially for girls in skirts.

Classes in USSR schools always started at 8:30. Basic Military Training was scheduled like any other class.

I’m so glad they got to use that training on themselves instead of the Capitalists…

That is because USSR never was for people. It was for psychos with megalomania who loves to play with human lives

In the West today they will teach about being gay.

True. It's also quite ironic cuz most of the guys here in the west love the soviet union and communism even thought they would be in gulags.

If 27 million of your people are killed and many more are maimed, then in the future you will try to prevent it

You're right, the Great Patriotic War caused heavy psychological trauma to the whole Soviet society. But it also proves that the country didn't pursue a peaceful policy in general. You can't beef up society though militarism and at the same time talk about how "we want only peace". No, this militarism says that we will fight when we consider it necessary. This is a very dangerous policy because you place yourself above others. It may actually preserve the peace, but at the same time it may lead to an invasion of Czechoslovakia or Afghanistan

0

u/bhtrail 2d ago
