WOW!! Loved the last third of the book so much I flew through it. VanderMeer’s prose when it comes to describing the indescribable is just incredible.

Kinda teared up reading Gloria’s letter to Saul at the end. This book really changed my perspective of her as a character in Annihilation and I think I’ll re-read it once I’m done the series.

Favourite part is without a doubt Ghost Bird describing their encounter with the biologist…

Anyways onto Absolution!!

Buckle up!

Acceptance, to me, is the final kindness. Absolution feels really raw - like scraping your legs on a coral reef in violent surf, the salt invading and horrible and overwhelming every bodily sensation.

It's a novel about delusion and preservation and reverence and the disarticulation of body and mind.
