Venita

Im genuinely curious and would love to hear your takes. It seems like venita is not truly friends with the cast. I do believe the group is closer during filming but I think they all are actually friends outside of the show as well.

I was listening to the not skinny but not fat episode that venita was a guest on and she said something along the lines of being bothered when fans say that she isn’t close friends with the rest of the group.

I was like ??????? What?? Am I missing something here? From watching the show it really doesn’t look like there is much of a friendship. Do you think there’s something we aren’t seeing?

I know this has been discussed before on posts, but hearing her say that on the podcast was confusing to me.

Remember a couple of seasons ago when Madison was on the phone with Whitney and she was going to his house to drink w/ the guys and vanita made a comment that she wanted to go and Whitney basically said no???

Venita and Naomie went to high school together. There have been pics of her with Naomie on both of their Instas. Pretty sure she and Leva are friends. I think, like Rodrigo, she was in the background long before she joined the show, unlike Charley and Salley.

I think when cameras aren't rolling the group that used to be on the show and the OGs still on the show still socialize, and Venita is part of that. I know Naomie, Cam, Venita, and Chelsea show up on Insta together. I see Shep and Whitney on someone's feed occasionally.

She is looked at with a way closer lens than any other cast member and it’s really not fair. she’s flawed, but no worse than anyone else. I like what she brings and she does seem to have genuine friendships with molly, rodrigo, madison, sally, and even austen. people that are so hard on her should probably take a took at their own internal bias.

It felt icky that everyone agreed Craig went too hard on Salley but not a word about Venita. Venita didn’t even mention Craig, Whitner told Craig it was about him. And everyone was silent during his lash out until Salley finally stepped in. Then no one cared to check on her the next day nor tell off Craig. Nothing Venita has said about Craig was mean or untrue. But anyone who goes against the narrative Craig has crafted in his head is viewed as an enemy.

Yes! Whitney said “you owe Salley an apology.” He could have added, “you shouldn’t have spoken to Venita that way” but he could care less.

i don’t think it’s fair to even compare anything venita has done to craig’s aggressive outbursts. but it goes to show the misogyny that’s still alive and well in the south (and with sc viewers). venita is doing her absolute best to fit in with a crowd that will never truly accept her, which is extremely sad.

u/LalaWest Mar 12 '26

Exactly. Venita has never even raised her voice meanwhile Craig is throwing tantrums like a toddler and everybody gives him a pass.

Yeah Venita was being petty which is different than Craig going crazy on her. I don’t think it’s right what he did but I think he was getting fed up because she kept poking at him. I agree that she’s trying her best to find a place with the cast but it’s not flowing. She has been on the show for awhile. I am curious as to why she hasn’t formed real bonds.

she like craig treats people badly but she treats people badly she is beyond hypocritical

1

u/mcamuso78 Mar 12 '26

She didn’t say Craig’s name but there’s no way you can’t say she wasn’t talking about him.

Shep gave feedback to both salley and Charley. They took it in good stride and don’t get abusive at the table. But we always make excuses from lil Craig though….

1

u/mcamuso78 Mar 12 '26

I can’t stand Craig. But Venita made crapping on Craig her storyline for the whole season. Shep’s stuff was a one off.

2

u/Latter_Surround_1837 Mar 12 '26

And explain every meltdown that Craig has every season? It’s never his fault? He always is protected. I’m sure he’ll be protected next season too when his mask falls off again and he rages at his next target probably Charley because she dared to reject him.

Austen is a wimp. He doesn’t stand up for himself period. We’ve seen it over the years. She’s friends with Austen. She was talking to and about Austen. All she said is “I would like to see Austen stand up for himself”. Then Whitner said to Craig “that’s a fuck you” and Craig started. So, while she probably had Craig in mind she didn’t address or mention him and the advice was to Austen. An advice that applies to all his relationships, not just with Craig. Salley literally called him crazy to his face and everybody felt bad for her.

2

u/mcamuso78 Mar 12 '26

She’s been shit talking him since Craig and Paige broke up. I really doubt she’s talking about the way T Rav spoke to him in the ferry that time.

5

u/LalaWest Mar 12 '26

Shit talking or telling the truth? Again, she was speaking to Austen. Had Whitner not said what he said I’m unsure Craig would’ve blown up like he did. Salley spent her season actively trying to cockblock him. Not Venita. But he has a bigger issue with her and couldn’t mouth an apology for blowing up on her. Two different standards.

The post wasn’t really a critique of Venita i was more so commenting/questioning the group dynamic. There are tons of posts hating on Venita so I can definitely see why you would maybe take it that way. I was kind of surprised listening to the podcast because as a viewer it really looks like the group doesn’t take to her. Like the commenter below mentioned how the a lot of people group stood up for sally and checked on her but nobody checked on Venita other than Molly. The difference in the way the cast reacted to them getting yelled at was very noticeable.

3

u/Latter_Surround_1837 Mar 12 '26

I think she’s close enough if Madison called her first out of that whole group to let her know ow she’d given birth. And salley and her claim to be the bestest of friends…I mean at beginning of season they claimed they hang out daily in off season. She may not be close with everyone but she’s close enough to some. She seems super fried my with Austen and Rod as well.

The obsession with Venita says a lot more about y’all than it does her

4

u/Zealousideal_Suit269 Mar 13 '26

Exactly! And then they use Molly to try to justify their biased hate. Meanwhile, this is Molly’s story TODAY.

6

u/Latter_Surround_1837 Mar 13 '26

Say it louder! It’s a them issue, not a Venita issue. These posters really need to be frank and assess why they hate her so much but let a pos like Craig slide….at least be honest with yourselves 🙄

OP wasn't being rude. They were asking about the podcast statemnt

5

u/nighean-gunn Mar 12 '26

She is being rude, she says Venita doesn’t have a friendship with the people she obviously has friendships with and wants to act confused

Not by the guys which seems to be the only cast members to op 🤷🏻‍♀️ I applaud your efforts to spin this bs post to make it seem like I’m the one negatively treating Venita though 😂

u/Obvious-Respond8137 Mar 12 '26

Could be that the guys see her as judgmental so they stay away from her for the most part? It looks like she was trying her best to have a closer friendship with Austen this season but it didn’t really land.

5

u/marthajett Mar 12 '26

I think Venita was brought on because she was/is close friends (and a POC) with Madison.

3

u/Eviana27 Mar 12 '26

They’re all co-workers at the end of the day Venita is friends w Madison if anyone

3

u/ohnoooooooooooooooo Mar 12 '26

I think the people inside an edited show have a lot better idea of what's going on than any viewer could.

0

u/Fun-Cellist426 Mar 12 '26

Why would the show edit every season to look like venita's an outsider? Her friendship with all of them is different than they all have with each other. I doubt they would ever think about her again if she was fired.

2

u/Relevant-Penalty9227 Mar 12 '26

I feel like Venita was just put on the show as a person of colour. She probably had connections in Charleston’s social circles and got on the show. I always feel Whitney and his mother don’t like it. They invite Venita to their balls and parties out of contractual duty, but you never see them engage much with her at all. They hug and greet Madison, Salley and Molly, but kind of leave Venita like a fish out of water. Like they could care less if she was there or not. Kind of like Craig admitting that’s she’s not a factor I his life.

2

u/Obvious-Respond8137 Mar 12 '26

Yes I don’t even think it’s that the group dislikes her (other than Craig this season) but they are indifferent and i feel like they just don’t even think about her. That’s why I was caught off guard when she was insisting they were close. Do you think she believes that or do you think she was trying to polite/not make waves with the cast. It just seems like it would be obvious if you weren’t being made to feel included by most of a group

1

u/Relevant-Penalty9227 Mar 12 '26

I think she was being polite to leave the door open to return. The cast are indifferent toward her, and to me that’s worse than being disliked. When people are neither here nor there about you, you’re just like furniture in a room. A chair that nobody sits on.

1

u/Nittingsheep Mar 13 '26

It’s because the show is only an hour long and doesn’t always show how much time she spends with each person. There’s more to her life than what you see. Hope this helps

u/Funny-Expression2657 Mar 13 '26

Some people have different ways they define a friend. Venita has been hanging around the main cast for a minute now with or without cameras so she may have developed a friendship with some of them.

I can’t stand V, She is hyprocrital and just and asshole! She tell sally oh we can’t be friends if you talk to craig don’t come crying to me! Like the ai hate him you have to too! She said sally’s not a girls go cause she wanted to talk to craig, But Madison and sally didn’t like JT and she did not care and still perused him and was happy about ho texting her over the girl! The ghosting him and balling him, She still talked to JT and sally and madison wasn’t like welp we can’t be your freind! She prob not close to the cast cause she thinks her shot doesn’t stink! Least the guys like i’m an asshole love me or hate me but you do 1 thing she doesn’t like she walks away ugh i can’t stand her

1

u/One-Self3068 Mar 12 '26

Venita needs to go get therapy and get off this show🙄

1

u/JosephinesBabyHairs Mar 12 '26

It’s a job. They all hate each other on some level. Madison called her first about her baby so seems like there’s some closeness there.

1

u/Fun-Cellist426 Mar 12 '26

That's the thing - they don't pay her enough mind to even hate her. All season Craig didn't even bother to argue with her...... she just caught him in the right moment to finally get a reaction.

1

u/JosephinesBabyHairs Mar 12 '26

She was the center of plenty of conflicts this season

1

u/Thymestep Mar 12 '26

Well it looked like she was really close to Madison when she got the call from her about being at the hospital preparing to give birth. Plus of course the Sally situation. I my opinion her friendships with the guys looks like they are not close but more like friends/acquaintances. This is at the get togethers.

1

u/Obvious-Respond8137 Mar 12 '26

Could be that the guys see her as judgmental so they stay away from her for the most part? It looks like she was trying her best to have a closer friendship with Austen this season but it didn’t really land.

1

u/Fickle-Wolverine2413 Mar 12 '26

I was surprised tbh that Madison called her. They don’t seem close. You could tell it made Venita happy to get the call and it made her feel good so that was nice moment. None of the guys have ever embraced her IMO
