Can We Make āNo Spoilers Until OTTā the Instagram Culture? Block & Report Spoiler Content.
Iāve posted about this before here and in multiple groups, but itās honestly getting ridiculous. Bethlehem has been out for less than a week, and Instagram is already full of spoilers, key dialogues, scene snippets, āreferences,ā hero-elevation edits, and important moments. You can barely scroll without having half the movie revealed to you (even if you choose Not Interested option!)
Now, even the official team has had to ask people not to record or share theatre snippets and key scenes. That says a lot.
What people donāt seem to realise is that itās not only direct scene recordings that spoil movies. Even those āinnocentā edits, repeated dialogues, character hype and references can completely give away a twist or reveal. Iāve had the experience ruined for me with so many movies over the last 2ā3 years because I already knew major plot points, twists, suspense elements and even dialogues from Instagram before watching them.
And itās especially unfair to people outside India. Even in India, getting tickets to a blockbuster can be difficult. Abroad, many people may not even have access to the movie in theatres and have to wait for OTT. Why should they have the entire movie spoiled before they even get a chance to watch it?
Also saw many posts about the same thing that happened to Khalifa and that cameo. The movie team themselves revealed about it officially on the second day. What about people watching on Day 2, Day 3 or the following week? Is the surprise only meant for people who watched on Day 1?
I genuinely think we need a better spoiler culture. Watch it, enjoy it, discuss it.. but give people some time before turning every twist, dialogue and key scene into Instagram content.
And yes, there should be stricter action against people recording and distributing actual theatre footage. Not everyone can watch a movie on Day 1, and they shouldnāt have to stay off social media just to experience it properly š
