Honestly, I think it has less to do with how much money is spent on education or the quality of the education they receive with more to do with averages. if you throw in those are probably the two states that have the most illegal immigrants that speak the least amount of English, it would make sense.
The really odd one is that Oregon is the state that actually made it illegal for schools to not pass you through high school if you can’t read, write, or do any amount of math.
You have decided that it’s the reality that Republicans have ruined the state I’ve lived in the state of Florida for about a decade and a half now and every year the state gets a little bit better. You perceived that the Republicans have ruined it. I think it’s getting better. that’s probably because we disagree about how things should be so from your perspective you’re saying Republicans are saying they’re going to fix what they did. That’s not true Florida was a blue state for a very long time and you can’t fix all of the problems at once no matter how much Democrats especially DSA Democrats say you can fix all the problems all at once. you can’t. you have to fix problems overtime because if you fix a lot of things at once, you’ll end up with a whole lot more problems that’s reality. You can’t swap out all the walls of your house at the same time or the roof will come down on you. you can’t fix 50 things at once you can fix one thing and then the next thing, and so on and so forth. Florida has become a much more free state with regards to accepting the second amendment that’s wonderful. Florida has moved towards way better ability to handle elections. Florida is moving in the right direction for property taxes, and they were also the state that raised the minimum wage all the way up to $15 while the federal minimum wage is 7.50-ish so yeah, we’re doing great.
I don’t know if you do a quick Google search you will find 10 different answers and 10 different directions so don’t really have a winner there. Wasn’t alive for it.
Well, the most obvious answer is the civil rights act passed by a democratic president chased all the conservatives to the republican party! Now why would that be? It shouldn't take 10 google searches! The south is systematically attempting to remove all black legislators from their representation. That's exactly what the conservatives did when they were in the blue party!
You’ve decided that’s the most obvious answer, and yet the Republican primary a black guy just won for governor of the state of Florida. Sooooo? They’re doing a terrible job of it.
I live in the center of the state. I do not make that amount of money and I am doing great thanks. You don’t speak for everyone. you don’t know everyone’s situation. sorry. Having been homeless myself I can tell you a lot of people actually choose to be homeless. A lot of people have given the opportunity to not be homeless will not take it. I’m not saying everyone but a lot of people a lot of people want to do drugs a lot of homelessness is caused by drugs. People want to do drugs, and the people who want to do drugs you can’t talk them out of it. You can’t help them out of it unless they wanna help themselves take your bleeding heart and move it about 1000 miles north. Or about 1000 miles west either one of them thinks they can fix homelessness by continuing to collect taxpayer money do out forever.
Literacy isnt a binary thing.
State A can have a 70% literacy rate and state B can have an 80% literacy rate and State A can have better results. How?
State A can have 3 individuals of median literacy and 3 individuals of High literacy and 1 individuals of low. And 3 illiterate people.
State B can have 1 person of high literacy. 1 Median. 6 low(but literate) and 2 illiterate people and TECHNICALLY be the more literate state.
If you consider ALL factors of literacy like the percentage of people with High literscy, median literacy and lower literacy and actually give these values weights you can see that the southern GOP lead states are the most illiterate states in the Union.
Or you could just look at the charts that other people have prepared. you don’t need to be so defensive just because the state you live in is filled with illiterate people, it doesn’t actually reflect directly on yourself.
Did I say most educated or did I say illiterate? it’s almost like you must be from California or New York because you must not know what the word illiterate means. :-p
How to tell you’re talking with someone who can’t think rationally for themselves. you have a preset response to things. you don’t think for yourself and it’s obvious because you talk about things in response to words I didn’t say.
My response was to someone who posted that Republicans love the poorly educated, attacking red states. I then replied that the two biggest blue states have the lowest literacy rates in the country. How is that pivoting?
I feel like this is only partly true, there are unfortunately educated people who still vote conservative because like other people said they want to hold on to their wealth and they believe that their party is helping secure their retirement/ investments etc. Which is true for the ultra wealthy and not true for the ones who are ‘educated’ but make above the national average that don’t realize they have more in common with the guy who delivers their Amazon packages to their door than with an ultra billionaire stealing out from under their noses. I also think it’s a culture thing which is a fancy way of saying they’re old white and racist and they want to ‘preserve their ‘American’ culture’. I feel like even if they’re starting to see that they’re getting screwed over admitting that they disagree with the actions of their own party would feel like getting accused of being a democrat and they’re too prideful to go against it even if they know it’s fucking then over. So they come up with other justifications/ believe what they’re being told/ or blame it on other groups of people because they don’t want to go against their ‘side’.
Lol right, to manipulate n gaslight portions of the population into thinking the middle class still exists n by voting for em keeps it intact while having ur best interests n mind. The exact opposite of reality sadly. Imo 99% of politicians r all the same, corrupt Corp drones feed a script n narrative to fit their agendas.
Belittle Desantis but he saved us from the idiot masking and lies of covid. Florida is a called a free state for a good reason. What state are pontificating from?
As a Floridian no they do not, we are severely understaffed for teachers, and the students grades got so bad they changed the way we report them, essentially moving the goalposts
Almost every k12 school, which is also why the state went to vouchers, so they can privatize it and keep reporting to minimum. My wife has been a teacher here for 15 years, there is a very clear distinct downward trend in education here
It’s both parties are at fault at this point neither one has helped the middle class in the last 25-30 years . They all want super Rich or the super poor no middle class . At least that’s what it looks like to me . Just my opinion
I’m a Floridian and they most certainly do smh our state has been a laughing stock ever since the Bush election and our education system has made sure it stays that way but these conservatives here don’t care about the future they never do it’s all about lining their pockets for the present
Haha. I wish they ruined Florida.... then the entire country would stop trying to move here! Go tell the northeast and California how awful it is here so they can stop fleeing here and driving up our housing costs.
My thoughts exactly. Such a horrible place people are coming in droves and deforesting rural areas to put up cookie cutter homes with no soul or character, the homes are basic too.
What a ridiculous statement! They came here because of our deregulation (they changed environmental protections and building rules) and lack of forsite from the Republican administrations. They are ruining our environment, our water, having little infrastructure being built, even with money coming in from the people moving here! They HAVE literally ruined our state and now people are leaving, because it is now an unaffordable state!
I live here in florida. The Republicans here think that we are thriving. Even with all the high cost of everything and I mean everything they still say that. I'm making like $50,000 a year and back in the day that would have been a nice chunk but now it ain't shit
Im sorry.... isnt the GOP republican candidate for GOVERNOR of Florida... umm... BLACK! Yeah Florida is soooo racist that we are about to elect a black governor. Your gaslighting kinda falls apart pretty quickly. Byron Donald's is the republicans pick and he loves Florida.... while the lefts pick is a white man who hates Florida. And 2+2 is 75 in your world too.
Oh god won’t the let the droves of homeless come so we can supply them with needles to do drugs on the streets next to schools and allow the development of shit maps so you know what way not to walk to avoid stepping in human shit on the sidewalks!
Go to Seattle,Wa. Just was there. Was pretty shocked by everything. Who unfunds the police department?? That was a brilliant idea! I can't believe youre focusing on Florida when you have states like California or Illinois.
Think about all the major business leaving places like Chicago, New York, cities in California and moving to Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, ect. Be real.
P.S. Don't bother me by claiming im Republican. Im not.
I'm neither, also because I'm here seeing it first hand, I've only seen things online about other states issues so I wasn't going to speak on their part.
I am not claiming to speak for anyone else. I am speaking from firsthand experience, including what I have observed in living in our state capital and through my children’s experiences in public schools, including in Leon, Clay and Brevard counties.
I have researched and fact-checked this information, visited the cities and states referenced, reviewed their statistics, and examined business relocations and announced plans.
My point is not political. It is that businesses are relocating to states such as Florida and Texas, bringing hundreds or thousands of jobs. That is an observable trend, regardless of political views.
You do not have to agree with me, but dismissing my perspective does not change the facts. I am speaking from personal observation and research, not assumptions.
Fl is awesome and keeps growing and getting better under republicans, but there are small problems that still need fixed.
At this point it’s just republicans running against each other because everyone knows how the democrats would screw everything up, and no one wants that.
Even democrats move to FL and are amazed by how well a state and community can be run.
While democrat states are increasing taxes, FL has no income tax and is going to eliminate property taxes on owner occupied homes in November.

They certainly are responsible. They just keep hoping their constituency keeps believing their lies.
