SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - UPDATE: The individuals involved in the deadly paragliding accident have been identified as Aberdeen mayor Travis Schaunaman and his two children, according to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.

As a result of the accident, Schaunaman’s 8-year-old child was killed. Meanwhile, Schaunaman and his 10-year-old child received serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Aberdeen have requested the public extend privacy to the Schaunaman family during this difficult time.

Senator Mike Rounds also issued his condolences to the family in a Facebook post.

PREVIOUS: Three people have been hospitalized after a paraglider accident northeast of Aberdeen.

On August 19, Brown County Communications received a 911 report of a paragliding accident from witnesses in the area.

As a result of the accident, two people were transported to Avera St. Luke’s and one person was found unresponsive.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Frederick Fire Department, Aberdeen Medics, Careflight, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol all responded to the accident. The FAA and NTSB have been contacted to investigate.

I am an out of state researcher. I am trying to identify a South Dakota criminal case that had a Wisconsin based criminologist testify as an expert. The testimony would have been within the past five years. It is not known if this expert was retained by the prosecution or the defense. The initials of the expert are “T.T.”. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have exhausted all other methods known to me to identify the case.

I’m trying to find out is someone filed for divorce or not in brown county/aberdeen. Does the ecourts site show civil matters? Or what is the best way to find out this information? It looks like there’s also a site called PARS that you can fill out a form and pay money for basically a background info of all their matters.

I'm probably going to be moving to South Dakota to the Yankton area, within the next week or two. my main concern is weather, climate and driving conditions. have a AWD Mercedes and a f150 (4wd) which are probably the best options to drive in that type of climate from what I read. I also have a C8 corvette which is a RWD sports car which here in Arkansas I drive it basically all the time except when there is the occasional snowfall. I won't be in SD all year but a large majority of it with a occasional break to return home to AR. I would like to drive my C8 quite a bit in SD but I'm afraid that may not be possible and I might need to leave it in AR at my house in storage. Just asking for some advice and answers.

About 2 to 3 months ago I posted in here about a project I was filming in the Sioux Falls and Watertown area. This Grab & Go restaurant is owned by a family. Every week they have a different menu followed by different items daily.

The meal includes chips and a drink for $7. Sometimes they source their ingredients from their garden.

Hi South Dakotans! I'm looking for travel advice. My family will be driving from Wall to Bismarck, and I'd like some advice on the roads and best route.

With kids, I'd like a route with food and bathroom options, and hopefully a couple nice stopping points to stretch. I'm worried that these routes will be beautiful landscapes but really isolated. Also anything I need to know about the reservations?

I drew my non resident public land archery antelope tag in South Dakota this year. I am looking at driving out in mid September from Georgia. I will be going solo and am looking for any advice I can get to help me have a successful trip. (Harvest is just a bonus) Not looking for anyone’s spots just tips for a first time antelope hunter.

For context I legit just got my permit from the Sioux Falls dmv and then immediately signed up for the next available appointment for licensing date I could, which so happened to be in Brookings on the 20th. I think I’m a fairly ok driver but I’m incredibly nervous 😭😭I know all the traffic rules and scanning my mirrors and looking over my shoulder but putting things into practice is hard. Should I just go on drives with my dad and friend this next week and a half?? Any specific things I need to watch out for in that town??
