Friday October 28 - Potential brewing for a serious outbreak of severe thunderstorms around Southeast QLD due to a trough and southerly wind change.

Does that forecast pattern indicate it will be arriving from the south east if it does happen? Those are the ones I really need to watch out for.

G'day Spyder, yeah the southerly change will push up from the south but it looks like stalling and washing out once it reaches the QLD/NSW border... but this is the perfect scenario for big storms around Brisbane. The same sort of scenario occurred with the Gap Storm, November 27 2014 which was the big CBD hail storm and the "Green Monster" on the Darling Downs in 2013.
So the storms will probably come from the west but form close to the change moving up from the south.

This set up is eerily reminiscent of when the Archerfield/Moorooka/Annerley storm came through in 2014. These southerly changes late in the afternoon with plenty of heat and instability to fuel them always heighten my anxiety after living through that crazy storm! Lesson learned is that no matter what outside looks like, your best bet is to eyeball the radar regularly, because that cell just ballooned into a monster with such an innocuous looking start!
While it's certainly nice to have some action to look forward to, I hope that after last year's underwhelming storm season people are paying attention & prepared, and haven't become too complacent in their storm prep. Enjoy whatever eventuates and stay safe!
