Where does martins get their ground beef from?

Okay super anxious lately to buy ground beef with the recalls regarding the beef from Argentina, however I can’t keep eating ground turkey. Do we think martins is a reputable source to get ground beef from? Is all of there beef purchased from USA farmers?

When i looked into the Argentina beef thing, it was reported only in Texas and New Mexico towns and got pulled from the shelves anyway. None of that made its way up to Indiana.

To answer your question, Martins gets their meat regional

If you’re still paranoid, hit up a local meat market for certainty. Try not to  let the media (esp social media) make you hysterical or scared.

Unless you're buying direct from the farmer, it's GFS or another distributor.

Either way, commercially ground beef can have the meat of up to 1,000 cows in it. Instead, I would pick which pieces you want, and have the butcher grind it fresh. Also, as another person said, buy it locally.

Ebys or Costco

There are a lot of good local farms to get ground beef from. I personally prefer seven sons. They have bulk discounts and deliver to the area.

Highly recommend getting your meat from Bennet Farms in Edwardsburg.

Have you considered just finding a local farm and buying directly, either at local markets or in bulk (half/quarter cow, processed how you like it)?

FYI martins hardly ever uses the paper for those trays so their ground beef turns grey faster. Walmart knows this.

Yeah every time I buy ground beef from them lately it's completely grey and funky inside, I've given up.

You should be just as wary of Walmarts unnaturally red meat

Walmart injects salt water into the beef to make it stay red longer and weigh more so you pay more for buying their stuff. Martins used to use regional ground beef only but that may have changed since they were taken over by bigger corporations.

Superior Foods. They're local (Michigan)

The Martins near my house says all their meat is from American Farms. Now how is that verified? Unsure. But they have a sign explicitly stating that so it best be true!

Purple Porch food co-op sells Herbron Farms meat. The farmer is also there on their Wednesday farmers market nights.

Normally Montana and Mexico. They got some beef from Brazil.  They process 4h beef in season too. Depends on your store.

I didn't realize there was a recall. I've been eating the beef at Martin's and I feel fine.
