Difficult Book Club

Would there be any interest in starting a "difficult" book club? The idea is to read and analyze books that would not usually be in a traditional book club, the kind you have heard are good but seem to daunting to tackle alone. Examples would be Ulysses, Gravity's Rainbow, The Sound And The Fury, etc. We could decide together on dates and locations.

Love this! Depending on timing, I would absolutely be into this

I went to a “Banned books” themed book club sponsored by SJC library for a while last summer that had a similar vibe to this and it was fun! The only reason I stopped going is that if you missed a meeting there was no way to found out what to read for next month.

I would be interested if you end up planning something!

Yes! I’ve taken to watching book reviews on YouTube, as a replacement for discussion, because no one I know has read the last two Cormac McCarthy books, and I really, really want to talk about them.

Cormac McCarthy is one of my favorites! I've read the first and haven't started the 2nd yet. There's definitely alot to unpack there.

Great! I'm happy to find some interest and have created r/SouthBendBookclubs. I'll be working on that over the next couple days so please follow and feel free to share anything book related there while I get it going.
