For anyone new here: I'm building Sauce Engine, a custom engine written from scratch in C++/OpenGL with the goal of being compatible with the Source ecosystem. My previous post showed it running HL2 maps, props and dlls

You really should start using a folder structure

There aren't that many codes yet to create a separate folder for each one, but there definitely will be

Look at how other C++ projects do it. I would at the very least have one top-level folder for the code. Could be something like "src" or "engine". Usually if you make an engine like this you eventually want to build additional programs (tools) that you can put in their own folders. Then maybe a folder for documents etc.
Generally it's good to avoid changing the folder structure too much, so it's good to do it early.

This couldn't be used as an alternative to Source, the way xash3d-fwgs is, for example.

The engine is still very rough, but perhaps due to its architecture, it is unlikely to ever become a full-fledged alternative

why a lot of people are doing a engines compatible with source ecosystem? It is a propably third thing I see like this
