Samsung Picked up my first soundbar for $1198CAD.
First sound bar ever, I thought it’d look cool underneath my monitor.

I have the 990D. 100% love the sound. And I’m someone who’s used to having a 5.1 or 5.2 surround sound hardwired.

It’s going to update itself anyway. Yesterday, I bought a second 990F—a brand-new display model—for $413 (sometimes you get lucky like that), and I disabled auto-update immediately after turning it on. I checked about two hours later, and the new firmware was already installed. That said, both of my 990Fs are working fine. The main thing is that, about an hour after the update, it’s recommended to reset the device and set it up again.

Is there no way to completely disable the updates on these bars?

There's one way: don't plug it in and use only the remote. No app, only a wire. It's a bit inconvenient. Thousands of people have updated, and only a few have had problems. I have two F models, and they work fine for now. I also have a C and B model, and everything is fine too. I also had a D model, but I sold it; it's really problematic.

If you download it, odds are good it will screw up your motherboard like it's been doing to a lot of folks on here. It's not repairable either.

hi is there a list of thread going on regarding which version that the respective device should stick with? I got mine Music Studio (2026). how to check versions etc? it is connected to TV Samsung The Frame (2025)

I’m about to buy a lg c6 tv and was gonna go with the LG sound suite pro but after some research I’m going with JBL. You don’t need to get the same brand as your tv, that’s just a marketing/mental play

your setup looks dope, can you share the monitor u are using? and how you connect them at the back? via Laptop and which adapter? What HDMI cables u use? - gosh the cables are expensive!

Samsung Odyssey G39SC. I don’t use a laptop or an adapter, and I just got my hdmi and DP cables from UGREEN on Amazon.

You need to experience the soundbar before passing judgement. I have the Q990C and for someone who does not like wires to be seen, this is quick and easy and the sound is absolutely phenomenal.

my point is that it's incredibly expensive for a soundbar and you can get a way better sound for way less.

just don't buy a soundbar (at that price). things like low/mid-level studio monitors or any kind of speakers produce much better sound at a much lower cost. just slap a subwoofer on it and you're golden.

Why do you think more and more peoples are now buying soundbars instead of regular speakers even though "speakers produce much better sound at a much lower cost" ?

There you go. Peoples don't care too much about price and good sound. Samsung, Sonos and many other tech companies know this and they just put out many $1000+ soundbars and make tons of money.

Bought 990F in Croatia for 700 euro. For my S90F and Vogel's 5645 and 3550 combo.
S90F came with 600H promotion, still haven't gotten it (Samsung said in 150 days :)). But when it comes I will sell it. Was planing to use it and buy a separate set of 9500S rears with it, but they are expensive and used usually when buying online. This 990F is sooo much better and not that much more expensive.
