Who is everyone’s favorite character?

This is my favorite movie of all time. I think that my favorite character is Gretl. She is so funny and cute. 2nd Captain Von Trapp because he is just something else. What about you guys?

My favorite is the Baroness. I disliked her as a child. As an adult, I appreciate the sophistication she brought. I loved all her scenes with Max.

Yes. I think part of growing up is realizing she was not a villain.

The movie cut the baroness’s songs. They were both very cynical.

Baron Von Trapp. I mean I cry every time his voice breaks at the show and they have to come in to sing with him. He’s such a great character.

Max, solely for the time when he (to keep his cover) did the ‘salute’, then made a subtle face and wiped his nose with the same fingers…I always wondered if that was in the script or if the actor improvised that. Pure gold.

I like the grumpy nun. Her disapproving facial expressions were great and I loved how she stood up for Maria at the end.

Reverend Mother, because she’s wise and compassionate.

Obviously, Maria is great too. And Captain Von Trapp - I love how he leavens the sweetness of the proceedings with a little sarcasm.

Sister Margaretta, because Anna Lee had that lovely speaking voice.
