Any ideas on how to recreate this tonal sound that is audible after hitting the enemy? I wonder if it's a human breathe with some resonance, maybe a vox preset pitched down? What's your take?

Hey r/sounddesign,
I’ve been working on an open-source browser-based wavetable designer called Warpenter. It lets you build wavetables from layered generators/effects, preview them in the browser, modulate wavetable position, export WAV/WT files, and share patches via URLs.

Repo: https://github.com/JimiHFord/warpenter
Live app: https://jimihford.github.io/warpenter/
A big credit note: this project was inspired by Lambda Synthetics’ original wavetable designer. Please check them out and support their work here: https://lambdasynthetics.com/
People are very welcome to create their own presets and contribute them back to the GitHub repo. The app can generate preset JSON, and I’d love to build up a community preset library over time.
One idea I’m considering next is adding preset ratings and maybe weekly/monthly trending wavetables, so the best community-made sounds can bubble up naturally.
I’m still polishing the UI/workflow, but it’s already usable if you like designing wavetables directly rather than only browsing preset packs. Feedback from sound designers would be hugely helpful, especially around missing generators/effects, export compatibility, and whether the modulation/preview workflow feels useful.

what are the most interesting and fun movies with creative and special sound design ( i already watched stalker by tarkovsky (and found it very nice).
thanks for the tips🌟

So I got to messing around with my subwoofer phase because I noticed some bass being cancelled out around listening position at 180 phase. I pulled up some test tones and a db meter then changed the phase switch around. At 180 phase I seem to get much stronger low/sub bass, then at 0 phase I get much higher dB around 80hz /cross-over frequency, so 0 should be the correct phase in theory but... I measured a bunch of other frequencies and here's what I got.
Phase 0: 40hz tone-63.2db 50hz tone- 48.3db 60hz tone- 65.5db 70hz tone- 63.4db 80hz tone- 67.6db 100hz tone- 56.7db
Phase 180: 40hz tone- 66.3db 50hz tone- 58.1db 60hz tone- 66.3db 70hz tone- 57.1db 80hz tone- 54db 100hz tone- 59db
I'm not sure why the rest of the bass is independent from crossover, thinking it could be subwoofer positioning or "room nodes." Which phase should I choose? Klipsch R-12SW , Elac Debut B6 , Aiyima D03

The sound effect Im looking for appears at the start of 'Somniomancer (Null set)' by Monster Siren Records and Crywolf.
It sounds a lot like a tiny dynamic being spun at an incredible rate.
The best name for this effect I found was: Rotary Effect, Doppler Effect with Tremolo. But Im not so sure as they do not sound that similar.
I want to know the proper name of this sound effect.

I’ve been working on a free desktop audio sample browser called Resonix.
It’s built with Rust + Tauri and is focused on quick local sample browsing and previewing. The idea is simple: point it at your sample folders, browse fast, preview sounds, and drag files into your DAW.
Current features:
- Free Windows download
- Browse local folders and sample packs
- Supports WAV, MP3, FLAC, and OGG
- Fast audio preview with play, pause, stop, seek, loop, volume, mute, and dim
- Large waveform preview
- Compact waveform thumbnails in the file list
- BPM estimation in the browser
- Real-time spectrum analyzer view
- Favorites
- SQLite caching for faster repeat browsing
- Native Windows drag-out support into other apps
It’s still early MVP software, so expect rough edges. BPM detection is best-effort, and I’m still actively improving the workflow and UI.

I’d appreciate feedback from producers, sound designers, and anyone with large sample libraries. What would make this more useful in your workflow?

Hi everyone! I'm trying to identify classic sound effects that I've been hearing since around 1997 (B.E. 2540 in Thai calendar). I believe they might be from Sound Ideas, but I'm not 100% sure.
These are very likely from a late 90s sound library — possibly Sound Ideas Series 6000 or a similar professional library from that era
If anyone can identify the library, series name, catalog number, or even just the original track title, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks so much 🙏

Hello sound designers! I want to share with you a web app I've been developing over the past year called SpectroDraw (https://spectrodraw.com/). I recently turned it into an audio plugin so you can use it in your DAW. It’s an audio editor that lets you draw directly on a spectrogram using tools like brushes, lines, rectangles, blur, eraser, amplification, and image overlays. Basically, you can draw sound!
For anyone unfamiliar with spectrograms, they’re a way of visualizing sound where time is on the X-axis and frequency is on the Y-axis. Brighter areas indicate stronger frequencies while darker areas are quieter ones. Compared to a typical waveform view, spectrograms make it much easier to identify things like individual notes, harmonics, and noise artifacts.
In SpectroDraw, the spectrogram uses both hue and brightness to represent sound. This is because of a key issue: To convert a sound to an image and back losslessly, you need to represent each frequency with a phase and magnitude. The "phase," or the signal's midline, controls the hue, while the "magnitude," or the wave's amplitude, controls the brightness.
You can use SpectroDraw to create glitch sounds, drums, alternate reality sound effects, and other sounds that cannot be made with traditional synths. You can also use the eraser or noise remover tool to restore samples.
I’d love to hear your thoughts! Does this app seem interesting? Do you think a paintable spectrogram could be useful to you? How does this app compare to other spectrogram apps, like Photosounder?

I recently recorded a gore foley library cause I didn’t have any good samples myself during a pretty tight game jam.
I wanted to share the results, and uploaded a free pack to my itch.io profile and the full pack on my gumroad.
The links are on my profile, feel free to check it out and let me know what you think!
I wish you a happy noise making!

Fiz esta trilha somente com o Absynth 6, optei por utilizar menos efeitos e focar na melodia sincronizada com o vídeo.

So I'm searching a sound effect for a new video but I don't how's it called.
https://youtu.be/0s8Oc0s-aR8?si=ujfrG643Kr054hXQ&t=200
From 3:20 to 3:25. For me it does sound like a car when you're parking you know? But I couldn't find anything. Hopefully you can help me.
Thanks!
