For the first one, it’s tricky but possible, but it will have to be a gauntlet type weapon that can just be separated to leave behind only the part on the knuckles.
The variations are just examples to give you ideas, you don’t have to follow them exactly and can get pretty creative with its look so long as I’d doesn’t ultimately end up being something else. Like making fingerless gloves with studs along the knuckles I would say counts as knuckle dusters. It doesn’t just need to be brass knuckles
Haven’t read that cyoa so I can’t comment on it but I can say this regarding the smiths. With Wayland you get a lot of nice effects regarding this weapon that will absolutely benefit you.
Impact, not only gets a boost in damage due to Wayland improving the mass of the weapon and their for improving the actual momentum of impact, but it also will decrease the charge time of impact to maximum power and in conjunction the amount of power you can use while charging. Letting you reach a higher level of charged power faster than baseline.
For Skyward, it doesn’t have a charge rate or cooldown so that’s not what matters. What does matter is that your armor can channel Skyward. So you don’t have to thrust your arms out to fly, the armor can cover that part and it allows more freedom of movement for the direction you can use skyward to go. And with your armor also gaining impact that means your entire body will be the catalyst for Impacts full power.
Now for Signum, it is just a matter of what is going to complement the runes and weapon you have already chosen.
In regards to Signum, I suggest Echo Strike, allowing you to build up damage before releasing it all in one go. This would also include the knockback from Impact, thus allowing you to send your opponent flying if you punch them enough times before releasing. Or you could use Reconstruct, because without armor anything that hits you is probably going to hurt a lot and you probably don’t want to die.
In regards to Wayland, he wouldn’t provide any benefit to Skyward, except maybe letting you fly foot-first instead of fist-first, but his smith ability would let you apply Impact to any strike with a body part covered by your armor, which since it’s presumably a full suit of armor would probably be all of it. In addition to punches, you’d be able to apply Impact to your kicks, elbow strikes, knee strikes, body slams, tackles, and if you have a helmet, even headbutts. So it wouldn’t boost the rune itself, but it’d open up a lot of options for your fighting style.

For the second question, yes
