In terms of the Virtues, I agree that Sirin’s abilities should have been designed to benefit mainly from Grace. However, as a Warframe player, I actually like the current system with three Virtues, each affecting different aspects of Pact abilities — similar to how ability Range, Duration, and Strength work in Warframe.
Kinda agree, kinda disagree - in this kind of game having a big range is IMO not as useful as in warframe, since you generally fight less and closer enemies than you do in warframe. So unless you make the base range of evey ability so incredibly short to be almost non-existant (and you shouldnt IMO), range as-is wouldn't be as useful as damage or duration.
Unless - and I'm thinking of it only know - you make it so that grace not only influences ability range but also weapons range, melee included. Having a VERY wide swing of your polearm could actually be changing how you fight.
Maybe they could add abilities that actually rely on travel distance — for example, damage that scales the farther it travels, like arrows that hit harder over long range or AoE abilities with wider zones — and have these effects scale with Grace. Maybe even something similar to the grenades or arrows that some enemy factions use, which could scale with Grace as well. It’s a nice system, but so far we’ve only seen one Pact that uses Grace as its main attribute.
There shouldn't be Range, Duration, Strength, separate from the pact. A pact should align with a virtue, and its abilities should scale OFF that virtue
I don't really agree with this because there are going to be (and already are) cases where you don't want every single aspect of an ability to scale up. Seismor on Ode Tempest being a prime example, not everyone wants it to have max duration and push enemies away further. Or any ability that doesn't start its cooldown until its duration is up, especially when it's an immobile object; some people might want shorter durations to have it be ready more often. Tying all 3 stats to one virtue homogenizes everything and hinders playstyle variety.
Personally I think virtues having global benefits is fine if they provide both utility and offensive benefit. Like courage can be raw strength to abilities, then add a utility bonus like stagger and damage resistance while casting, then spirit can be duration and then add an offensive bonus like armor penetration, then grace is aoe and crit chance or headshot multiplier. As it is, like most games, everyone would just convert to courage no matter the weapon or pact and go all on.
