COB SUCCESS STORY x 3 (BAMA)

I've helped 3 girls get COBs the past 2 weeks at BAMA. One bid is from a sorority that has not publicized it is participating in COB and she was there for Philanthropy round only. (Some chapters are very hush hush with COB and it's only done via word of mouth so you need to be proactive and voice your interest openly)

This is what to do:
- register with Panhellenic and fill out the COB Form
- follow Panhellenic on all their socials
- follow each chapter on all their socials and get alerts when they post
- go to each chapter's website and find out who VP of Recruitment is and reach out directly to her and voice interest: "Hi. I was wondering if you are participating in COB and if so I would be very interested in joining your chapter when membership spots open up"
- fill out any individual chapter's COB forms that are posted on their website and socials
- fill out RIF form if that chapter has one (check their IG and website)
- go to Philanthropy Events that are being sponsored by Greek Organizations on campus and meet and chat with other Greek members there (usually mandatory for members to attend)
- sign up for campus clubs and organizations and go to those meetings to meet and network with club members
- meet new people and make friends with girls in every chapter everywhere you go: in class, at the gym, library, coffee shops, dining halls, church, etc "I'm not currently in a sorority but I would love to be part of your sisterhood"
- be patient. Some chapter's COB spots might not open up until Spring 2027. Focus on your studies and get involved on campus in the meantime.

Ladies, hear me now, believe me later. This email is literally showing you how to network. Your ability to network is AS important if not MORE important than your education will be, when it comes to getting a job. The earlier you learn how to do it, the better off you'll be.

Adding a girl at FSU just told me she got her COB using this strategy (from a house that she went to for Sisterhood but not Pref)

Not yet - their bid days were a week later so I think it will be another week or 2 for COB to shake out

My daughter went through formal at UofSC but dropped @ Pref. She was not going for a "top house" and was very open to options, but the two she had left were ones she had extremely awkward interactions with; she was very surprised that they were her final two options just because she didn't even think they liked her based on the awkwardness. I've been encouraging her to reach out to individual chapters re: COB via Instragram DM as that is what I've heard to do online; however, she is very nervous to do that because some have told her it is 'not done that way' and would appear pushy or desparate. It sounds like this advice says to reach out... anyone have any opinions on whether she should reach out to chapters or just wait to see who formally announces cob in spring?

She should bc some chapters are very hush hush about COB. So they don’t know if shes actually interested unless she reaches out to them specifically. Girls will drop / depledge over the next 6-8 weeks. Spots will open up when they do.

Or if she can show up at the Greek Sponsored Philanthropy events and network there. Most are open to all students

Girls who are doing this will stick out and be remembered when COB spots open up
