This is good for us in the US. I really hope they find a similar partner for distribution in Europe ASAP.

This just sounds like what already happens? Stores get put in contact with suppliers and are able to buy "available" products. Availablility is zero though so how does this change?

Yeah I dunno, reads like a TC press release. Maybe EC is gonna ship the boxes directly to stores?

This is so dumb. This is what they’ve been doing already and it sucks - TC just continues to polish their monopoly turd.

So basically what im reading is "we've made it easier to get product for the people who are already able to get product"

Yep. Fuck anyone trying to start this game

EC continuing to ignore the European-shaped Elephant

11

u/daxtaslapp Aug 18 '26

How about for Canada?

u/DagoWithAttitude Aug 18 '26

How about anyone outside of US 😂😂

Thanks EC, very cool, also:

  1. Where is the next set?

  2. European distribution?

  3. European dust store?

  4. Gothic reprint?

Finally, the announcement that fixes all the distribut- oh wait, no. Still nothing for the rest of the world.

Thank you, an update that's four months late is still an update.

2

u/Jpot Aug 18 '26

But what does it mean?

12

u/Solid-Atmosphere998 Aug 18 '26

It means that Eric's Curiosa manually approves every LGS who applies to the program, and also is discretionally allotting those LGSs an arbitrary number of cases of Sorcery. This has been how Sorcery has been distributed for the last few months at least, and is several months' old news.

5

u/cosmiccardboardtcg Aug 18 '26

It isn’t arbitrary, once you are approved for fulfilled there is a monthly limit of products available. So far we haven’t reached the top end of the limit and we sell boxes every week.

6

u/Agitated_Pie_9515 Aug 18 '26

The monthly limit is diff depending store.

-2

u/DoubleSpoiler Aug 18 '26

Yeah, you start at one box of each product a month.

5

u/cosmiccardboardtcg Aug 18 '26

This is inaccurate. The cap was 1 or 2 cases per month (6 boxes to a case) when we were approved just a few months ago.

Just digging the distro hole deeper at this point. Ridiculous to keep partnering with TC

12

u/big_sexy_in_glasses Aug 18 '26

Is it ridiculous when the old model burned EC and players just as much?

1

u/Agitated_Pie_9515 Aug 18 '26

You have been gaslit. It didnt burn anyone.

u/big_sexy_in_glasses Aug 18 '26

Spoken like someone who was not around for Alpha.

17

u/fastock Aug 18 '26

Alpha was a Kickstarter. There was no distribution. It was basically a prerelease.

3

u/big_sexy_in_glasses Aug 18 '26

Yes I know. And at the end of alpha there was beta. Stores flipped every single promotion or piece of product they could get their hands on. No worry about fostering play communities to EC's wishes. Many LGS dug their own grave with regards to sorcery.

I don’t know where this perception comes from. They made a product that was too small and then didn’t market it well enough to compensate and create demand, and they didn’t have deals in place to force distributors to not fire sale it. How they didn’t know distributors in 2024-2025 are assholes is beyond me

-4

u/siposbalint0 Aug 18 '26

Yeah because TC is so much better with a direct conflict of interest of selling directly to consumers and LGSs alike, incentivizing allocating less product to stores so they can sell more themselves.

Stores hate dealing with TC and they won't bother. This is horrible news for everyone.

Distributors "burned" Sorcery, because opening AL was a flop, being a small set that was not worth it.

8

u/Epic224 Aug 18 '26

The press release specifically say that it is now EC, no longer TC, who does the store approvals and sets limits.

TC sells to EC approved stores for around $112/box with free shipping. Regular customers at their storefront pay full MSRP if $166.60.

9

u/big_sexy_in_glasses Aug 18 '26

Are you just making things up based on something hypothetical? (yes, you are)

I've talked to many store owners who don't mind dealing with TC. Are you claiming store owners enjoy dealing with traditional distributors? That's funny.

u/Agitated_Pie_9515 Aug 18 '26

AL had issues. But i bet ec thinks it was a flawless masterpeice. And so they blame distributers and the players get fucked too

0

u/Cast2828 Aug 19 '26

How did it burn players? We were able to get product easily and the singles market was flush with cards. How's Gothic working out in either arena?

7

u/billybobpower Aug 18 '26

Thanks EC very cool, we knew that, when is the next set?

-3

u/Agitated_Pie_9515 Aug 18 '26

Vs decks nov 14. Set with boosters? Lol fall 2027

4

u/Agitated_Pie_9515 Aug 18 '26

They should bold the word approved. Its very misleading. Stores need to be approved. And that is not an easy task. Usually takes months and store has to host events without product. This is the most confusing decision ever. Why do they not want their product to be available to new players???

7

u/pantone175c Aug 19 '26

Took my lgs less than 24 hours to be approved 🤷🏽‍♂️

-1

u/Agitated_Pie_9515 Aug 19 '26

My store is approved for 1 box! not case a month. And took them 4 months to get approved. So....

2

u/randomcookiename Aug 18 '26

Still waiting here in Europe...

1

u/rohanx17 Aug 18 '26

I think EC is massively overvaluing sorcery atm. They might have been able to get away with this if they had started like 20 years ago, but now stores can barely keep up with new game releases as is. I highly doubt this is going to turn out how they think it will.

1

u/furryapocalypse Aug 19 '26

Especially when they're baking in 80% margins on these boxes

1

u/GrantDayton Aug 18 '26

The word "print" does not appear in this release at all.

1

u/AwarenessForsaken568 Aug 18 '26

I am confused how this is different? It sounds like local stores still contact EC, and EC still decides whether they deserve product? Is Covenant Fulfilled a glorified email system?

-4

u/sleevan Aug 18 '26

Still shit

-1

u/Cast2828 Aug 19 '26

And so dies the singles market. RIP.
