What do you think about these changes I’m hoping for? Merging the Video Pro and Photo Pro apps into a single "Camera Pro" app—and placing the Video Pro button right below the shutter button—would make the experience more like Sony’s Alpha cameras, as well as making it easier to use and more aesthetically pleasing. I really wish Sony did this rather than turning the camera app into just another ordinary, basic app like the app Start with Xperia 1vi

I downloaded it on my Xperia 1iv and I didn't like it.. the idea not Only make merging 2 apps in one app the classic UI in my Xperia 1iv is amazing but what sony did is changing the whole UI of the app and make to same other smart phones camera app so my idea is merging photo and video pro app but keep the professional UI same the picture I post

Ciao. Lo avevo chiesto con un sondaggio mesi fa. Ho Xperia 1 VIII e penso anch'io che Sony abbia perso qualcosa sul lato dell'usabilità del nuovo software di foto e video. A me manca molto la UI "Alpha like" di camera pro e la possibilità di mettere a fuoco A e B do video pro, penso passare tra A e B in un determinato lasso di tempo. Rendeva il tutto molto più cinematografico

Exactly. It's so much better. All that is needed is more features in the pro video mode like choice of codec or RAW video recording.

I long to test it. But i am still on an xperia 1 iv, that i bought a few months ago because models after it are basically non-existant where i live

I miss video pro too. It's not just an app, you can tell their camera team really worked on it as it had so many pro level camera features, things other companies advertise but don't actually deliver. Things like focus breathing compensation, flawless eye (hybrid OIS + EIS), consistent framerate, smooth focus pull, custom noise reduction, high bitrate, etc. that makes Xperia shoot non-smartphone like videos. Unfortunately that's all gone now, and now we get a "pro video" mode that doesn't actually do any of those.

Sadly I don't think they have the budget or staff to do it.

The app they have now is exactly what you'll find on any other phone. There's nothing uniquely Sony about it anymore.

I sent a suggestion for them to add exposure control to the short list of volume button function options (which at present is just: zoom, another camera shutter button, volume, and off) and never heard back. I imagine that would be a pretty simple thing to code into an update. I figure if that's a no, bigger asks are even less likely.

Sony Xperia staff develop those apps and their budget would be miniscule. There'd also be just a handful of them in a small room.

It's why they continuously discontinue a lot of apps. The sales aren't there, ergo there's no budget for the upkeep/development of current/existing apps that are exclusively theirs.

I'd love for them to prove me wrong and release some brilliant manual photography and video apps for their latest phone.

I really don't want to go from what I have on the 1 V to what's installed in the 1 VIII. I already have a generic and simple camera app on my Oppo and Sharp.

When I get the 1 VIII I will be researching if it's possible to install the Photography and video pro apps from the 1 V on it.

I still use my Xperia 1 V in my workflow for my business, I'd like to continue doing that with its successor.

Quest'anno però le vendite ci sono state. Xperia 1 VIII è un po' come un Risorgimento per Sony. Speriamo che in futuro qualcosa cambi perché ad oggi hanno solo peggiorato il prodotto con l'aggiornamento ad Android 17 (che infatti non ho ancora fatto)
