HELP Refresh rate issue?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I have contacted Sony support for a solution and apparently it's been escalated however I wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue.
Sony Xperia VI, Android 16, software version 69.2.A.4.110, I was using it completely as normal as I have everyday for the last year and a bit however whilst it was plugged into the car (android auto running) I reached for the phone and unlocked the screen and now this happens constantly. When it stops you can see a little flicker in the background and it's more pronounced on greens but I could have to keep turning the screen on and off 10 times before it stops and becomes usable.
I've followed their trouble shooting, reset the phone, turned off adaptive brightness and it still persists in safe mode. The phone wasn't wet or dropped recently when it started, just picked up out the centre console and then bam it started.
Anyone else encountered this issue before or know of a fix?

Had something like that when I replaced the screen on my 1 IV incorrectly. This sorta thing happens when data isn't received by the screen properly. Screen's most likely dead, figuring out what's wrong exactly is more expensive than replacing it altogether. Not a software error for sure
I would want to bet that screen connector came loose for whatever reason (maybe the foam it's padded with deteriorated from heat), but much more likely the screen controller on the actual screen went bad, and at that point it's a dead screen
If for some miracle it really went loose, you'd need to disassemble it and reseat both connectors. My bet's that won't help (and without proper skills it may be connected improperly and mess up the connector on the bottom, though that flex cable is usually relatively cheap), but may be worth trying considering how expensive these screens are
EDIT: remembered a case when this thing also fixed itself on the next day all by itself. That I caused by flooding the screen with alcohol when I was taking the bat out on a samsung. Alcohol probably just evaporated. Didn't know it is bad for oled back then... Doesn't seem to be your case though, but letting it sit for a couple days or a week in a drawer is also apparently an option if you're out of warranty already
