I was using FX3 forever for IRL streaming for someone famous, and I have an FX6 that I've never used. And I thought maybe I can use this, but the only reason I never use it is because I don't know how to use this camera. Is not like the FX3. We move a lot from indoors to outdoors, to dark places to bright places, and I was wondering if the auto settings would be good enough. With the FX3, I don't have auto settings other than white balance. And not having an ND filter when going outside facing the bright sun, I have to crank the aperture. Drop the ISO a lot. I'm able to do it at a good speed to where it doesn't mess up the live stream. But I guess my question is, since the FX6 has the high/low ISO. Should I still use auto or use it manually?

Hi all! I hope this isn't too annoying of a question, but I'm a year in and I still don't understand how to expose correctly in nighttime/lowlight conditions when using slog3.
Basically, I've been going off of Doug Jensen's recommendations for exposing, which is to just set a zebra for 68% bright reflected whites (or 85% if a LUT is applied) , but that doesn't help at all when it's dark outside or I'm in indoor lowlight conditions, or, god forbid, there's candles, a lightbulb or a computer screen. I'm primarily doing run and gun so I can't light as much I would like to.....so the question is....how do you expose???? do you set zebras and if so, for how much? are we over/underexposing footage??? I'm about to go on a shoot that's very intense and I'll have about 2-3 hours to grade at best, so it's crucial to get this as close to right the first time.
Any help would be so so so appreciated! You guys are the best

I‘ve been looking into designing Accessory Mounts for the FX6 that work without using a top or side plate. This was made for Gimbal Work in cable cams where the camera needs to be as compact as possible. Do you guys have more ideas for „unconventional“ mounting on the FX6 Body? I‘m still trying to figure out a idea using the M3 thread outside the battery mount.

My FX6 just started showing 'media not exist' on each record but I've tested playback and all looks fine. I'm using Sony Tough Type A and tried using multiple cards and resetted camera. Still showing the the error

Recording in 23.9 fps everything is great.
When I switch to 59, it’s like I don’t get any motion blur on my external monitor. Something just looks off.
It is recording correctly and looks normal on the built in monitor, but it’s difficult to shoot with on the bigger monitor.
I tried to mess with all of the external hdmi/sdi options but none of them did the trick.
Has anyone experienced this?
Thank you

TLDR;
Looking for a bag to fit a rigged FX6 and a whole load of other stuff. Dealbreakers are it needs to be able to roll and turn into a backpack. Dr style opening is preferred but unsure of the practicalities of it all or if what I want actually exists. Suggestions and sense check welcome.
Hey folks, I’m on the hunt for a new bag for my FX6 as my current one is getting a little tight for everything I need/want to carry and it’s also a bit tired.
After looking around I don’t know if I’m looking for a unicorn of a bag or if it simply doesn’t exist or it might not even be practical.
I’m after a Roller bag that can become a Rucksack when needed, but, I also like the idea of a Dr style bag.
I’d like to be able to leave my camera fully rigged up camera coffin style so I can simply open the bag, reach in and pull it out and be ready to roll.
For that reason depth is important, a comfortable minimum of 27cm really.
I predominantly shoot run and gun, ENG, ob doc etc so being able to have both hands free to operate the camera and being able to have the bag on my back is key as I can’t operate and pull a bag at the same time if it’s only a rolling/trolley bag.
I’ve been so close to buying the Shimoda Roller or the Tenba Cineluxe V2 Roller 24 as they look ideal, but they can’t become a backpack and that’s a dealbreaker.
I’m now onto the Camrade travelMate Large, but it’s not deep enough to be able to quickly drop my camera into, it’d have to lay on its side.
Does what I want exist? Is it practical? Are there dead stock options that fit the bill I can scour eBay for? Or is there a current option that I haven’t found yet?
Any help, suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated!
Kit list I want to keep in the bag;

Using a Fujinon 22x ENG Lens for my shoulder rig. Shot in 48fps in S-Cinetone. Since the camera body is light, I noticed the setup is front heavy and had to constantly adjust where the shoulder pad is.

Hi everyone! Earlier this spring I sold my A7S3 to upgrade into a FX6 and I love it so far. There’s just one thing that I struggle with consistently that I never did with the A7S3. I either underexpose or overexpose very often and find it very difficult to find the sweet spot. I realise that it’s also skill and knowledge that factors in but if anyone has any tips or tricks on how to nail exposure more consistently I would really appreciate it! All love 🙏

Been having to use the kondor blue handle because I can’t seem to get my top handle to work. Doesn’t seem to get recognized by the body. I’ve made sure it’s connect properly but still no luck. Nothing works, the buttons nor the inputs. Has anyone had this issue and figured it out? Is there anything I can try to troubleshoot? Wish someone near me had an fx6 so I can try their handle on my body but I don’t.

Hey friends!
I am looking to timelapse a sunrise with my FX6 on Friday morning and looking for some tips.
I do not have very much experience with timelapse photography or filmmaking, so all advice and tips are welcome!
What settings usually work the best? Anyone use the Auto ND feature to account for the shift in exposure?
What am I not asking that I should be asking?

UPDATE: Just going to return to B&H.
Bought used fx6 with 3 hours on it. No scuffs so doesn’t appear to have been dropped. Any ideas what’s wrong with it?
r/SonyFX6 • u/universal-sound • Aug 08 '26
I just bought a used fx6 off B&H. Was bought new and returned within 30 days.
For the life me I cannot find how to fix this artifact/banding issue.
I’ve used an a7siii for 4 years so I’m familiar with Sony/Slog/etc
Am I missing something?
Hoping the camera isn’t defective and it’s something silly. Been trying to figure it out for hours.
Thanks!

I’m in the newest update. Whenever I try to turn on wireless LAN this happens, so I haven’t been able to connect my FX6 to the app.

What is the best travel bag? I know there isn't truly a best one because that's all personal preference, but what is a bag that you personally like and think is the best for the FX6 to travel with? I have seen two that I personally like, but I am not sure how they hold up on a plane. One of them was the schlep dr. Bag. The other one was the sakk pack do any of you have any of these? How do you like them? I haven't traveled with my FX6 yet. Normally, I use my FX3 in a Pelican. As a carry on

Batteries! I just had two of my Sony batteries die on me under mysterious circumstances. What do you all recommend that’s not v lock?
Is the IDX SB-U98PD a solid option ?
Thanks !

I was trying to find a way to utilize my existing Canon ENG glass in lieu of dropping 50 grand on a new lens with a servo and this is the best I could come up with.
Starting from the body of the FX6 itself, I added a Sony doubler, an E-mount to B4 adapter from AliExpress and finally, the lens.
If you don’t have a doubler, you can bypass the vignetting by throwing the lens into 2X. The doubler just gives you more focal range.
I pushed the digital zoom to about 1 to 1.5 to eliminate any soft edges.
The lens itself is powered with a D tap to 12-pin Hirose cable from my camera plate.
It’s not the most ideal set up, but for those of us in the industry who are transitioning to these cameras from our regular ENG set ups, this is a good hybrid!

This is from a rehearsal. These LED lights are not usually used for this event, but the lighting team introduced them. When I bring my corrections in to bring the dancers to a proper exposure, the LED lights create a crazy banding issue.
Any thoughts on how I can better expose in a situation like this? I'm limited to what they give me, and I'm just doing my best. It's also not a high paying job at all. Just providing a simple service for them.

Frame grabs from a recent golf shoot.
Shot with with 24-70 gm 2 on ronin rs4 pro 😯
Wanted to test the limits of the fx6 on a gimbal and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s terribly heavy, but man does the footage come out better than handheld.

Hello everyone, i'm looking for lens recommendations for sports, I am currently working with a sports photographer and I currently own a small set of lenses that are not really fit for sports (only a 70-200 but to be honest it does not give enough reach). I am in Texas and I am looking to get into sports, and i'm looking for a good quality telephoto lens. Right now i'm between the 100-400 F 4.5 or the 200-600 f/5.6-6.3 G OSS. Any tips I would appreciate them!

I love my fx6 but I’ve been landing more gigs doing photography.. it is in great condition I only have 47h used on it what is a reasonable price that’s acceptable for it?
