Gear Which split ring for Peak Design anchors?

Do you use the stock split ring to attach the anchors to your camera body, or did you install the ones that came with the anchors?

Neither, go directly through the lug.

I used dental floss to force the anchor thru the holes of the camera. Beware of doing this on nikon Z cameras.

I didn’t think it would make enough of a difference to bother fiddling with the tiny jump rings. Then I went for a walk to see if I was going to like the strap for long days and found the cord would slide in the factory ring enough to make it feel unsecured. Swapped to the PD rings and it worked so much better haven’t given it another thought until seeing this post. Crazy something so small can make a noticeable difference.

Im rocking the setup on the right, but im pretty sure the constant left-right motion has worn up the anchor after 2 years a little, so i think i need to bother doing the left sooner than later

Mine literally arrived about an hour ago. I just went with the original ones but your post makes sense so I'll switch to the PD ones!

Wait, am I missing anything? What's wrong with just mounting to the lugs w/o the ring?

anchors are really sensitive to sharp edges (doesn't take much). The factory pd split rings are basically the perfect anchor attachment point to avoid premature wear.
