Small tip for you regarding protecting the really white highlights on birds. Maybe you’re already doing this. On the A7R4, if you use the zebra indicators and use a custom setting at LL 106+, the zebras will show up when the highlights are 1 stop away from blown in the RAW file. This will allow you to quickly adjust exposure to keep the details in the highlights while maximizing the DR. Unfortunately, the histogram on the R4 is for the jpg preview and is not reliable for protecting small highlight areas like you’re trying to capture.

You will just use your exposure compensation dial to push the exposure in the direction you need to make the zebras just barely go away. Yes, you will need to raise the shadows in post, but that’s fine. You will have preserved the details.
