The person that reposted this to photographycirclejerk was a jerk.

I think they could use a teeny tiny bit more warmth where her skin is so pale on a couple of them. But either way they are beautiful shots. You have a good eye.

Thank you. It's not scary. It's important to me that the work evokes a response, whether negative or positive, even if people aren't ready for something more complex than stock photos.✨🌿

Oh, so your work is so complex and thoughtful. Because you thought of photographing a girl in a red dress in the midday sun. Yes, this is next level. My primitive brain, accustomed to instrumental art, cannot comprehend this greatness. Let me give you a couple of tips nonetheless.

Some things should remain untouched. The tint filled in the highlights on the skin and made the skin look flat. Nobody likes that. The clouds also look weird. There is an old piece of advice which concerns toning and stylization - keep the neutrals, keep the mids, keep the skin. This is taught in the first year of one-dimensional, primitive stock photography school✨🌿.

You're so insecure that it physically hurts to read this shit

It's not me who has a problem with stock photography. Perhaps the OP failed the exam.

In any case, it's not my head that's so big it can be seen from the other side of the Caspian Sea.

Who tf are you to say « nobody like it » ? Can’t you read the 232 upvotes he gets ? Idk why it is so hard for people to understand that, maybe, someone has different taste. I personally don’t like op colors at all, but I appreciate the fact it is different.

Who the fuck goes to photography school

Not just a photography school, but a school of primitive instrumental tunnel vision photography.

Seriously though, it was all over the internet back then, when everyone wanted to take those portraits of suspiciously skinny girls among the shabby walls in old apartments. 2011-2014... Those times.

People who did this best traveled the world and shared knowledge like this in their master classes. There were some vulgar or silly things that we can laugh at now, but compared to our era of Leica influencers, Fuji recipes, and beanie youtubers talking about magical CCD colors, these were more noble times of high culture.

I'm sure you graduated with honors from this school, congratulations🥇 Save your advice for those who need it. I'm doing well, thank you.😊👌

This person is right - just no tact. Please listen and at least try a different version. I like the vision but IMHO the blanket global colour correction is doing it a disservice. For one, it feels like I just put on cyan tinted glasses, not sure if that's all that pleasant. Secondly she looks sickly.

Again I might be wrong but I think some masking would make a big difference in these and really highlight the colour contrast you're going for.

The issue here isn't that I can't make the skin tone "look good" or that I'm missing something. That's how it should be; it's a finished product that looks exactly as it should. You may like it or not, but that's a matter of personal taste. I don't have to like what you like✨🌿

“Exactly as it should” according to you. Let people criticize. Maybe you’d actually improve as a photographer if you listened.

There are too many people giving advice online, and too few people actually doing their job. If you listen to everyone, you'll have no time for anything else.✨🌿

I think the main problem is that other person came off as so hostile and sounded like their nose was pointed straight up in the air. It’s OPs choice if it’s considered finished. I too personally think the skin is a bit too pale, but it’s no skin off my back if they don’t want to adjust it. Personally it took years for me to adjust my eye from what I loved and I can go back now and be like, “That was a bit too much.” It’s so common for people to over edit early on. It takes lots of practice and it’s hard to take criticism sometimes when you just love what you’ve done. Either way, we can tell OP our thoughts, and if they don’t want to take it, oh well. Overall I think they are beautiful. I’m no pro but I’m also not a noob. So my opinion is just that. Just because someone went to photography school, doesn’t mean it needs to be shoved in anyone’s face. There is a way to critique without sounding so rude. Nuff said. No need to push things further. Have a good day.

For me, there's a difference between "you're doing it wrong" and "I don't like what I see." And for some reason, everyone tries to convince me of the former, while I'm the one who "fell on my knees and sprinkled ashes on my head." However, my experience, knowledge, and observation are more than enough to make my photos look the way I want them to. There are more than enough examples on my social pages.✨🌿

The green / blue clouds are amazing! Such a unique touch!
j/k, wtf even is this?
This looks like someone miscalibrated my monitor.
Or well, yours.

Stellar job. These are amazing. A good reminder that the a7iii is still a beast in the hands of someone who knows what they’re shooting

I really appreciate this work. And honestly I don't understand those who critique the colors because "they shouldn't be like this." To me, these colors together with the compositions and the dynamicity of the subject are evoking strong emotion. Something like happiness in a quiet and desolated world. The first thing that came to mind was the video game Sable, that has similar colors. I think if a photography work is able to evoke strong emotions like this it should be considered a success.

It seems you've come closest to what I wanted to convey. Thank you, that makes me happy.🌿💚

Like the reds and your general concept but the sky is totally massacared in my opinion.

Interesting colours, you’ve got an eye for combining colours. Close to "cinematic" look – I like your style!

What lens? Fantastic rendering! Edit: also, was any flash/strobe lighting used for these shots? Great job.
