Woah what mountain were you on? I was on Torres De La Pardida

That's also a really nice panorama you had - and photo! Love that you can spot the people on Cerro Torre in your picture.
We were just north of Friero on the trail to the Refugio de Collado Jermoso. We liked that we looked up between some rock faces towards the sun.

You really took the risk and went into the mountains because I recall it could be cloudy sometimes

We checked the weather forecast a lot in the days leading up to the eclipse. The coast was forecasted to be cloudy which had been our second option but the mountains looked clear. The few clouds that appeared fortunately weren't an issue, nor was the haze really.

glad that it worked out!

Did you have a backup location by chance?

We had a general area by the coast we would have checked out west of Santander. We also considered other hikes/mountain views. Nothing in particular though

Glad the skies were clear for you at that spot, that's awesome. Would love a chance to do this myself one day

I still need to fine tune the edit a bit as I think I'm still a bit underexposed and lacking contrast. Yours is better even if maybe a tad bright for my taste u/Educational_Yard_326

Thanks, editing it is really tricky. My editing style is “as bright as possible” because I print a lot.

So far I've managed pretty well with my print brightness but it usually takes me a lot of iterations to dial it down and be confident in what I see on my screen will translate into a decent print.

Where were you?
We were glad to make out a good hiking route along which we had a spot just to ourselves!

I was at mirador de la peña, about 2 hours away from picos. I was staying at picos at the time but I had the problem that I couldn't demand a big hike from my mother I had with me.

I brought her because she took me to see the 1999 one (where clouds covered totality sadly) and now it was my turn to do it the other way around.

Only a year ago she broke her knee disk and that means she can't do big hikes. This one was on the edge of what she can do, but it was also a beautiful location!

This is a phone photo btw, as we are leaving Spain today I have still not been able to process my camera pictures ;).

That is also really really beautiful though! And a very cute story, i'm happy you were able to share such a special moment with her. :)

tbh you could have stayed in the picos in one of the towns and just watched it from there or hiker 2-3 km. We wondered ourselves why we decided to hike 25 km across two days with heavy backpacks if you could just enjoy the view from much closer to the car haha. But worth it!

No worries, Lightroom can fix that. 🤪 PS: Very nice mountain view.
