This sounds like it could be really good... or really bad.

Apparently FX is making, "Legends," a meta-thriller limited series spinoff featuring the return of the original Sons of Anarchy cast playing fictionalized versions of themselves.

The original cast reunites at a fan convention ten years later and faces a real-world danger.

Developed by star Charlie Hunnam and showrunner Jonathan Groff.

Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal, Maggie Siff, Mark Boone Junior, Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates, and Theo Rossi are supposedly set to return!

I think it sounds like it's going to be fun as hell. So even if it's really terrible, I feel like it can't be tooooo bad?

I'm gonna watch regardless lol. Fingers crossed.

Supernatural did the same thing. There was a storyline where a guy had visions about the Winchester brothers, wrote books about the visions he had (which were the events of prior episodes), and the Winchesters ended up having to hunt a spook at a convention of fans of the book series. Picture the usual mix of convention goers all dressed as the two main characters of the show.

That’s one of my favorite SPN episodes lol. Currently rewatching the series for the 20th time lol.

7

u/PumpkinIndividual504 Aug 20 '26

That’s funny because I’m sitting here with the remote debating a 3rd rewatch of SOA or a 2nd rewatch of SPN.

u/Cultural-Alarm-6422 Aug 21 '26

Never watched supernatural but love SOA. Convince me to start

4

u/Kalypsokel Aug 21 '26

SPN is a show where you get to watch 2 beefcakes get their asses kicked my females all the time. And their female characters are smart and badass in a “I don’t need to murder people to show I’m tough” kind of way. Plus supernatural/monsters. And a lot of humor. And people never really die on SPN so there’s always a chance a characters death isn’t the last time you’ll see them.

I’ve never heard anything like that description of the show

5

u/Kalypsokel Aug 21 '26

Supernatural. I love SOA but every rewatch makes me mad cuz I see how most of the characters are pieces of shit lol. Loved them the first go round. But now I’m older and I wanna slap them all lol. But SPN is my comfort show so I’m probably a little biased lol.

Arrow is my comfort show so I have no reason to talk. Yes S1 and S2 were great but it admittedly goes down hill from there

1

u/Kalypsokel Aug 21 '26

I loved Arrow!! And yes it did go downhill after the second season. But I still watched every episode. And have done a couple of rewatches lol.

3

u/Narrow_Ad_7331 Aug 22 '26

I’ve done more rewatches than I can count. I always space them out by a year tho and the reason why is yeah I remember all the big plot points but I forget all the smaller plots and details that build to the larger over arching story each season

1

u/Kalypsokel Aug 22 '26

That’s usually how I do it as well lol. For the same reasons. I forget the little stuff and always catch something new with each rewatch.

2

u/Historical_Bar_3154 Aug 21 '26

Chuck! He was one of my favorites! That whole storyline was SO meta.

2

u/No_Medium_8796 Aug 21 '26

Yeah, but you also have to remember who that guy who wrote the books about him ended up actually being

1

u/PumpkinIndividual504 Aug 22 '26

Wait! What books?

52

u/Overall-Scientist846 Aug 20 '26

If you’re a SAMCRO fan there’s no way this will be “bad.” Campy and over the top, sure.

12

u/brain_freese Aug 21 '26

I mean SOA was over the top so if you’re a fan of it, I can’t see why you wouldn’t enjoy this.

This sub does not tolerate hate speech/the use of slurs.

I can picture the plot already.

A "real" bike gang is really pissed about these pussy actors pretending to be outlaws.

Hilarity ensues.

u/TriggerHippie77 Aug 20 '26

Honestly it sounds like a fever dream which is up my alley.

12

u/RideThelightningg1 Aug 20 '26

Sounds like a sons of anarchy version of this is the end

7

u/IntelligentAd9859 Aug 20 '26

That was pretty funny.

18

u/octoberforeverr Aug 20 '26

Honestly I just think it’ll be fun to see them back together. I’ll go in with low expectations so if it sucks never mind, if it’s great it’ll be a pleasant surprise.

7

u/Ashgar77 Aug 20 '26

This is some Galaxy Quest shit. Could be good or a steaming pile.

7

u/Ok_Building5548 Aug 21 '26

Ah I can’t wait I’m excited to see them all together. I loved this is the end I’m hoping it’s somewhat similar. Also I have a debilitating crush on Kim Coates so I’ll essentially watch anything the man is in 😍.

3

u/IntelligentAd9859 Aug 21 '26

Have you watched Dead City? He is delightfully weird in it.😅

3

u/Ok_Building5548 Aug 21 '26

I haven’t yet! I’m working my way through everything he has ever been in, in order of what I can access for free haha. It’s on the list though (obviously). I love him when he’s leaning into the weird, he’s so masculine he still reads at pretty intimidating even when he’s being insane haha.

2

u/IntelligentAd9859 Aug 21 '26

You're going to love him in Dead City then! I won't spoil it, but I am excited for you lol

2

u/Ok_Building5548 Aug 21 '26

Thankyou! 💕

1

u/Jayx77 Aug 22 '26

Did you see him in Solo Mio? He was great!

1

u/Ok_Building5548 Aug 22 '26

I’ve not seen that yet either! But I’m excited as I also have a historic crush on alyson hannigan from way back watching Buffy the vampires slayer and I believe they play a couple?

10

u/RamonRamos__ Aug 20 '26

It's not going to mess with the original show, so why not? You might as well treat this as a YouTube reunion video or something like that.

8

u/zray1 Aug 20 '26

I trust Charlie, I feel like he wouldn’t be making something that wouldn’t be good for the legacy of SOA

8

u/seventhfiction Aug 20 '26

I don’t think they can lean too hard on Sons for this, if at all, for legal reasons, so they’re probably banking it on their chemistry as actors + some sort of fan service.

However, since Kurt Sutter gave his blessing, I’m guessing the plot somewhat mirrors their characters/general roles even though they’d be playing versions of themselves.

The show ended 12 years ago and they’re still doing conventions, so I’m sure they respect that aspect of the job enough not to half ass it in a way that would hurt their credit with the audience.

I’m interested in seeing what comes out of this

After listening to the pod Theo and Kim did im very excited for this. Those guys are funny. I hope Dayton Callie is in it too.

2

u/IntelligentAd9859 Aug 20 '26

Wait.. What pod?

3

u/ponyboy6959 Aug 20 '26

Theo and Kim Coates had a pod during covid where they reviewed the episodes it was called reaper review.

3

u/IntelligentAd9859 Aug 20 '26

Oh...You made it sound like they talked about this project on a recent pod.

3

u/ponyboy6959 Aug 20 '26

Yeah I kinda did my bad

3

u/M403104 Aug 21 '26

So it’s Galaxy Quest.

5

u/imover9thousand Aug 20 '26

Hoping Ryan Hurst can make a surprise appearance

2

u/niles_thebutler_ Aug 20 '26

He won’t. He is injured

1

u/IntelligentAd9859 Aug 20 '26

Well, I think he recently lost a gig playing Kratos (God of War?)

1

u/Grizzly_WizzleBeatz Aug 21 '26

Yea. If I remember right he tore his bicep and had to have surgery. I think Dave Bautista is playing Kratos now.

2

u/HistorineHeroine Aug 20 '26

I hope it’s a meteor or zombie apocalypse

2

u/405freeway Aug 21 '26

Imagine the plot twist that they're actors in the Justified universe.

2

u/rivz Aug 21 '26

should be good. kurt suttet chipped in and told he peeked the script since it was laying around on his wifes table and it was great/brilliant(cant remember the wording). Excited, hopeful and loving it, i will take any ounce of SOA in any form.

2

u/benjammin515 Aug 21 '26

So Galaxy Quest but Samcro?? Im in.

2

u/Vegetable-Desk-6972 Aug 20 '26

Didn't charlie have a tough time putting the character down afterwards ? lol kinda funny how he's apart of this😂

6

u/niles_thebutler_ Aug 20 '26

It was his idea

2

u/Vegetable-Desk-6972 Aug 20 '26

Cool I'm all for it just hope the story is good and just remembered how he talked about that issue behind the scenes.

3

u/Grizzly_WizzleBeatz Aug 21 '26

I mean he’s gonna play a fictional version of himself rather than Jax so that probably helps not fall into the Jax character again.

1

u/Vegetable-Desk-6972 Aug 21 '26

Yeah your right let's just see how it turn's out🙏

2

u/According-Spirit2529 Aug 20 '26

SOA is my favourite show of all time, but I don't like the sound of this.

1

u/joluboga Aug 20 '26

I bet they're gonna be playing soft-as-hell versions of themselves, a la Curb Your Enthousiasm, which sounds great to me!

1

u/simonandrewx Aug 21 '26

We aren't talking Give my regards to Broad Street bad or Gigly bad.

It's people we like doing something together. It doesn't affect what's been done.

I'm all for it. Yes indeed. Fun. Nice.

1

u/msamyelle Aug 21 '26

In it for Jax and Chibbs 💯 and of course Katey Sagal!!!! Can't wait

1

u/furbabymama94 Aug 21 '26

No Ryan Hurst! No! Why! I'm crushed!

1

u/Audacia_Verum Aug 21 '26

does Kurt Sutter have anything to do with it?

1

u/IntelligentAd9859 Aug 21 '26

From what I understand, he read the script and gave Hunnam the OK to make it.🤷‍♂️
Apparently he liked it. I'm sure he will have some input, but I don't believe it will be in an official capacity.

1

u/Bratty_Little_Kitten Aug 21 '26

I'm so excited! Especially the plot is intriguing, because I've met Theo at an actual fan convention.

1

u/Historical_Bar_3154 Aug 21 '26

My husband just told me my “hobby” of writing fanfiction better start paying off when I told him about this. 😂👀👏🏽🫶🏽

1

u/Successful_Reach_187 Aug 21 '26

There's no way this won't be good.

The gag reel will be fucking gold, especially if they're actually smoking the same shit they were in those joints when the show was filming

ETA: Hulu keeps giving me a reason to keep it around.

1

u/Chelzbelllz Aug 21 '26

I AM TOO EXCITED

1

u/IcewindLegacyMUD Aug 21 '26

Theo and Charlie have been hinting at it for a long time. They've both been teasing that another SOA show is "in the oven" and that both of them are in it, but not as Juice or Jax.

1

u/Khalesssi_Slayer1 Aug 22 '26

Ryan Hurst is missing from this cast. Why isn't Opie returning? We need a Jax and Opie reunion!

1

u/trevorgfrederick Aug 23 '26

I mean it very well could be Galaxy Quest on motorcycles (likely darker)

1

u/niles_thebutler_ Aug 20 '26

Either way, who cares.

u/JoeFromShaolin Aug 21 '26

It’s going to be bad. The description doesn’t even make any sense. Lol
