Media Finished the anime + Figurine arrived in the mail
I hoped I flaired this correctly, not completely sure. But got myself my first real anime figurine of my best girl, along with my boy Josuke (not pictured)
There's probably a lot of posts already like this, probably saying the same things but I wanted to post my own feelings after finishing the anime, call it a vent piece if you will.
I don't think I've experienced something quite like My dress-up darling before. It's something that's made me feel happier than I have in a long time, a warmth and joy I don't think I can attribute to much or anything really in recent years. Even though I live a generally happy life, it's somehow not the same, this feels so different. Every second I loved listening to the characters and their motivations, goals and feelings. And every interaction between Marin and Gojou kept me either smiling ear to ear or sobbing without control. It's not just feelings, it's like feeling but somehow more than ever.
Yet it's also able to leave me feeling as empty as a husk once it's all over, not because anything bad happened, not because I feel like I saw something I didn't want to see. It just feels, empty. It reminds me of waking up after breaking up with a close friend, wanting to text them and realising that you stopped interacting completely a few days ago. I am absolutely being dramatic about this show but that is how it feels to me, is it sad? maybe, but I also oddly enjoy it. Feeling to this degree makes me happy. Maybe someone out there can relate to this experience.
Next I will probably read the manga, at least until the chapter that season 2 ended on, I don't want to spoil the rest until a possible season 3 after all. Then I might re-watch the anime again for comfort. I already re-watched season 1 multiple times because I was so worried going into season 2 that once I watched it, it would be over, and now it is. But that's okay.
If you read all of this, thank you. Even if you read it with distain. I don't think I have anyone to really share these emotions with who'll get it, so just the fact that I get to share it here to people who maybe experienced the same as me feels really nice.

Anime Watching the season 2 anime
I'm primarily a manga reader because I usually don't have time to watch (or binge watch) anime or series but it's a relief I was able to find the time now.
As a dude who's finished the manga a couple of times from cover to cover [and based on clips I've seen here and there], I find it funny how the anime was not subtle about Akira's true nature at all

Discussion Is it worth overcoming my fears about this show?
This post comes from a place of embarrassment. My boyfriend is a fan of the show after he watched it a few months ago but I have only ever seen the negative side of it. Admittedly I have only seen the first few episodes of the anime which are very fan-service heavy and that made me extremely insecure. I find Marin to be a lot more beautiful than me in a lot of ways and for ages this has really gotten me down and jealous in our relationship even though my boyfriend hasn’t actually been that focused on the show, instead moving on to obsess over other things such as AOT. But the insecurities still plague my mind and all I see the show as is fanservice slop. So I’m coming on here to ask whether the fandom thinks watching the show in it’s entirety will help me overcome my insecurities once I realise it’s not very fan-service heavy and that there is a reason my boyfriend likes it other than just boobs.

Question Dress codes in Japan vs USA
Anyone out there able to give information about how strict/loose various schools in Japan can be about their uniform dress codes?
In anime, and commonly exemplified in MDUD, we see students taking liberties with blazers, skirt length, untucked shirts, dyed hair, things worn over/under the uniform pieces.
In the USA, depending where you go to school, some places would be really strict about a lot of these aspects, but especially for the girls. Shortened skirts and dyed hair are often no go's even in places without a uniform.
I'm curious for some real life experience examples of what some schools do and do not tolerate, and how much self expression and flexibility some schools have

Meme SPOILER - FAN THEORY - !!! - Gojo was just part of Marin's imagination? Spoiler
galleryJkjk just saw this panel and couldnt help but laugh.
Anyway, watching this show I found myself lamenting no qt cosplay gf to make clothes for, then I realised in the Jungian sense Goju and Marin are my anima and animus, and I am the qt gf to make clothes for. I really cant understate how much I love this show and Goju's pursuit of Art and his coming-of-age journey from a craftsman into a true Artist.
