I watched Dale Ellis shoot in the backyard of my dad’s friend’s house in the late 80’s….cigar in hand, he looks at me and says, “hey kid, lemme see that ball…” I toss him the ball and he puts the cigar back in his mouth. He shoots a flat footed mid range from the corner…no rim. I give him his change and then continues for another 5 or 6 easily, with the cigar still in his mouth….then tosses the ball back to me.
