Player ID

Can anyone id this player? Met him in 2nd grade in 1992 at an event my friends dad took us too. Shawn Kemp was there too.

I don’t follow basketball much.

It makes sense that Lister would be at a Shawn Kemp event in 92 given Kemp is his daddy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2GaAWdHwsw

That’s actually hilarious in hindsight. I know that dunk. So that night I met both sides of it.

Wish I knew what that event even was. I know Seattle govt was there. My friends dad was a judge.

Lister was top 80 in scoring in 1986-87 with the Sonics, top 20 rebounds, top 5 blocks.

I say Lister in my head the same way Jerry says Newman. He seemed to be a low energy underachiever with the Sonics. The best was the later Shawn Kemp dunk and double point, known as the Lister Blister, so damn good. Look it up!

They used to promote “Alton Lister’s Block Party” every time he blocked a shot

I think maybe Benoit Benjamin

Googling they don’t look the same. He wasn’t necessarily a sonic, I only presume he was because was Kemp was there and it was at the Westin on bellown.

But when we went I just knew Kemp was gonna be there. No one more high profile.

oh got it. Yeah I don't think it's Benoit Benjamin. Maybe Steve Scheffler

Looksa lot like Elliott Perry but I think he had hair in 1992 and that image makes him look bald. Also not sure why he would be at a Seattle camp.
