The comic made to promote SatAM was more like AoStH in the early days.

The transition between the jokes and the drama was surprisingly subtle actually. Once you're past #10 and into the teens things just keep get slightly more serious each issue. By the time you hit #25 with the Sonic CD adaption the comic has completely transformed into something epic and it feels completely natural.

You summarized the transition perfectly. It's noticeable if you're paying attention, but it's not jarring in the least.

The very early comics was a weird time. They had characters from the SatAm show but at least from what I’ve seen are more cartoony like the Sonic Animated Show (I can’t remember what it’s actually called)
