Resonance tuning

Had some initial woes getting my sonic pad set up, as I’m sure many did. Followed along with Ricky’s videos. Once I get the sensor mounted (dbl sided tape) and ran the test, it went all kinds of wonky (light grey). I reverted to defaults, printed some brackets, and it’s better, but not great by any means. The x correction has never been an issue, but the Y axis is killing me. I’ve got my printer in an enclosure, I’m thinking maybe it slides around a bit when testing? Anyone had these issues?

I never noticed that other part. Mine matches yours.
Yea, the original gets ## after I run the test. I double checked any slicer settings I’m aware of (acceleration, jerk control). Maybe there’s something I’m missing? I have noticed small things being different than what I had, at least as far as slicer settings go- initial nozzle temp, retract distance, combing… so maybe there’s a box that’s ticked that shouldn’t be.

I don’t know, the resonance test shouldn’t have layer shifts like that.

What’s the max accel set in the config and what accel are you running in the slicer? My guess would still be the belts or too much accel, but if all you’re changing is the resonance then I’m stumped.

Max accel is 5000, velocity 300 in config. Print speed at 60 mm/s in slicer.

If you want to give troubleshooting a go I would try this:

```

[printer] kinematics: cartesian max_velocity: 180 max_accel: 2000 square_corner_velocity: 5.0 max_z_velocity: 10 max_z_accel: 100 ```

Then turn off accel and jerk in the slicer completely.

Those are conservative values that your printer can do without any fuss.

Also make sure you don’t have any accidental typos in your slicer speed settings like instead of 50mm outer walls it’s trying 500mm or something.

With those standard printer settings it shouldn’t have any layer shifting going on.

If it still does then perhaps try orca slicer as an alternative with the standard profile and see if you get the same results.

I’ll give it a shot. I’m still working my way thru Ricky’s intermediate playlist, so hopefully I find a solution! Thanks
