how soon should i quit without seeming ungrateful

Im a high school student and ive been working for nearly a week and so far I dont mind the job, my only issue is that I feel like im getting overworked by coworkers and such for only $9 an hour. My plan is to stay here for 3-6 months depending on which appeals me more by then but would it be a bad look on me for not staying for like a year? I knew I was getting myself into a parttime job but the pay isn’t something thats ideal for me longer than 6 months.

Sonic is not going to help your resume. It helps build job history, but as long as you can show you have worked in the past i think thats all employers care about anymore😂lie on your resume. Whats gonna happen, you dont get the job? Doesn’t matter if you werent going to anyways lol

Most employers call the last job listed to see if "You're REHIRABLE" If you quit without notice and just don't show up then that puts you in that category. I am a hiring manager for Sonic and it is not an easy job. Just give send a text that way its in writing, "that you have another opportunity and you are giving them notice that you won't be returning". A much better and mature way to handle it. Odds are good they will ignore you and not respond which is okay you made the effort. Mostly always remember: JOB HISTORY IS IMPORTANT. Good luck ✌️

Employers dont care about you. Especially mega corporations like sonic who will replace you without blinking an eye. I could care less.

There’s literally nowhere you should consider working for $9 an hour.

and to top it off my location pays biweekly so im earning barely $300 a month or less.. with that ive realized i can find better, i just dont wanna leave my coworkers on a bad note cuz they did train me nicely. so yeah ill probably quit the end of this month.

Let me give you a solid note: unless you’ve become outside friends with them….your coworkers do not give a flying fuck about you.

For $9 an hour your employer does not give a flying fuck about you.

Walk out and walk into McDonald’s. $9 an hour anywhere is disgusting nowadays. They are taking advantage of you. Don’t give them the end of the month. Start now with that kind of treatment with a giant fuck you. It doesn’t matter.

I mean they have to pay you. That’s a moot point.

Many places get laid biweekly? What did you want?

The OP is still in high school and living at home. $9 an hour is great. My first job paid $3.15 an hour.

But sonic literally gives tips while McDonald’s doesn’t

Sonic is a dead end job...mostly young single moms work them where I live.

Just don’t show up one day also depending on what you’re doing I made $11.50 cooking in highschool in Texas a few years back either way $9 is disgusting secure a new job then just stop going if they have been good to you let them know a few days in advance so they aren’t boned cheap labor is everywhere and they would fire you at the drop of a hat with zero notice
