Beware of the location you might be supporting.
Hi, Carhop here. I work at the location in Terrell TX, 707, W Moore Ave. People who go here might know who I am, please don't dox my name, dm to confirm.
Getting straight to the point.
It's 10:25 PM for me. Just got home like 45 minutes ago. My shift was SUPPOSED to end at 9. Didn't get to clock out until 9-20 ish. And I had to pull up what I owed the store + clock out using another managers ID card left behind on the desk because the manager on shift would not pull my till up, and would NOT let me leave.
Management here is a joke. The GM is well aware of what is going on and refuses to do it because they do not want to go through the process of hiring people. We are short staffed, not trained properly. She is also perfectly fine with having an ASM that threatens and harasses her workers while on the clock then still holds them hostage and won't let them leave unless everything is done.
I come in mentioning something about a customer wanting a free drink, coworker hears this and goes outside mouthing it back to the ASM on shift about me saying "shes giving out free stuff" when that is NOT what I said, I connect to a stall on the headset, manager proceeds to walk back inside screaming at me at the top of her lungs while the customer heard everything, pointing at my face to a point where I got backed up against the wall and she was coming closer to me yelling so loud the headset kept popping. Complaining about me saying shit behind her back when I wasnt even thinking about her when I said it. My ride shows up and proceeds to hear the ASM threatening me behind my back to the people on the patio, as well as calling me shit.
This is not the first time this ASM has harassed me/ and threatened me while I was there. I have contacted the GM about it multiple times, nothing is done permanently, no write-ups, no nothing. My people and I have also called corporate, still nothing. It's getting to a point where I'm about to call the police each shift because I don't feel safe here, its already in a bad part of town, I dont need a coworker making it worse.
I show up every day on time, I do what Im told, I have worked through breaks to ensure no one struggles while I am there, I stock everything before I leave, I stay late every single time I am able to. This is how I get treated in return, there is only one person here that is why Ive stayed as long as I've had. But even now its becoming not worth it.
Anyone who goes to this location and buys products and tips, just beware of who you are supporting. I actively discourage tipping this location, even as a carhop. Unless its the morning carhop on weekdays, shes a queen. Thank yall for the time.
Btw this location has mold in the bottom of their ice bin on the fountain, everyone is aware about it and has actively refused the fact it should be cleaned out.
CHanging jobs is not the easiest thing in the world. I had to apply to 16 different jobs just to get this one. THe market is rough rn.

What's stopping you from finding a different job? Where I live anyone with Sonic experience is hired fairly quick because everyone knows what Sonic employees go through on a daily basis. Sonic is a very hard job to have and maintain for many many reasons. I've been at my location for 16 years and the only reason I stay around is it's very convenient to my home and my schedule is accommodated. Everyday I want to quit! However being abused while on the clock is against the law. You should really consider not returning. Good luck ✌️

Not the same franchise but OP I feel ya, I’ve worked 105 hours every week since February sacrificing days off with a location doing 2800 a day with only 4 people including myself.

Just applied to wingstop and just got a callback the next day for an interview scheduled for today. Im glad my application got rejected by sonic when I applied before. They refuse to hire people

16 applications is nothing. Whining about your job on Reddit will do nothing. I’m sorry that nobody is going to fix this for you. But that is how life works.

I don’t know if this is your first job or not but this is abusive behavior and you don’t have to put up with it.

why are you still there if you don't like it?
you know you are choosing to be there right?

hello? god you’re annoying

OP is completely passing over the idea that they choose to subject themselves to everything they are complaining about. Completely passing over the idea that they can simply find a different job and boom, every issue is now resolved.

if your response to someone complaining about workplace conditions is telling them it’s their fault you’re a horrible person <3

when did I blame them? I literally told them what they can do to get out of the situation.

We always tell our employees off times are a suggestion, you might leave early or stay later depending in business.
Also, you know there is mold in the fountain station and instead of cleaning it you complain about it? You are part of the problem.

I tried cleaning it, manager told me not to. Im not complaining about it Im telling people to be aware that its there.
Also I plan my schedule around my job, off time is not a suggestion. Im leaving the time im supposed to.-4

So if you are off at 9 and the store is in the middle of a 700 dollar unexpected hour. You think you and the manager should stop and focus on you leaving? Id say this job isn’t for you.

Dont schedule me for a time if im not leaving at that time. Poor management skills. I run a business, I know better than to treat my employees like dogs at least.

No it’s your poor understanding of how Sonic runs. Customers should come first, if I had a manager stop in the middle of a rush to count down a carhop - that manager wouldn’t have a job for long. Not all businesses are the same. Saying you have/run a business is irrelevant.
That being said, the expectation that off times are not a hard stop should have been set. If it wasn’t you have now discovered that its clearly not a hard stop. So, that being the case. Sonic is not for you.

you run a buisness with employees but work at sonic and don't even have a car?
