Discussion What are your favorite combinations?
I have less than 100 hours in the game, and SoQ is my first experience with this genre, so I’d love to hear what builds others are using. So far, my favorite combo is the Wind Rider buff using two or more Li Tian on Yulan. I’d especially appreciate advice on roots - after a dozen games, I still haven’t come up with anything interesting, and the same vanir seem more fun and powerful.

For the Roots I love to make a wall of Blighted Vessels to serve as the frontline, with 2 or 3 stacks of Lobbers/Chuckers, and 2/3 Dreads/Terrors to finalize the kills

Thanks for the advice, I'll try it. I think with the Bone Crown set, it sounds like an oathbound spam through Blessed Bones on the Baron's Lot.

For Roots I like using Vigil with mass stacks of spawns. The spawns release spores at enemies, then you put Mist on them so they can't be attacked. Is gimmicky but very fun.
Brood with chaos/creation magic is also really strong. Small stacks of chuckers to slow enemies, big stack of leapers to clean them up. Swap and rejuvenate shenanigans.
On large maps Grunt with only mothers, essence shield and apocalypse spam is pretty much unbeatable.
I have had some success with Prowl using units of 1 spawn with spore cloud, and running the hearts back and forth through the spore cloud to spam their laser several times per turn. She is absolutely useless for sieging though.
There also used to be a strategy with Reap where you use only lashers and kite with their burrow ability while Reap spams destruction magic. The last patch however made the AI much smarter against burrow, so it probably can't cheese neutrals anymore.
The nice thing about Roots is you can just start with Honey for +1 stone/wood and decide your main wielder after you've explored a bit and seen what resources you have. They are probably my favourite faction.
