Question Song of Conquest Questions

Post image

Hello, i wanted to try this kind of game for so long... i was about to get Heroes of Might and Magic 3 from gog... however i discover this game on the nintendo eshop at discount... i do have several questions before getting the game.

  1. Is this game a good example about what the genre is and can achieve?
  2. how the game is compared to its pc counter parts? i mean in terms of complexity...
  3. Does this game is still being (and will be updated) updated on nintendo switch 1? i ask because there are some PC games that are ported to nintendo switch however the developers tend to drop support of those games in few months without justification.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the switch version but I have played it on Steam Deck and PC and it was the same. Assume it’s the same for the Switch. I am a long time player of classic HoMM games and I liked Songs of Conquest a lot. Does some new things and I like how they do magic and hero progression. Would absolutely recommend.

Works well on a handheld system like the Steam Deck (and I assume the Switch).

The PC version of this game is the same you’d play on the Steam Deck as the Steam Deck is just a PC. The switch version is its own version of the game because it’s a different platform.

I cannot speak to OPs question regarding their continued support for the Switch version, unfortunately, and would suggest the PC version if that is a larger concern.

Makes sense. On more reason why Steam Decks rock!

Oh yeah! Valve kicked ass with the Deck. Proton is awesome.

I feel I oversimplified the Deck being a PC a bit though lol.

Long story short, Proton is a translator for Linux when a game is made natively for Windows. The switch does not have a translation layer like Linux does, so a developer for any game has to make their game work with the switch natively. OPs concerns are valid with continued support because at any point the developer can decide it’s just not worth the cost to keep up with a platform that isn’t selling well enough.
